What is a naked backlink?

If you are using your URL as an anchor text means, we call it as naked links

It's the hyperlink for which the anchor text is the URL itself, so called because the URL is fully visible to readers. Example, http://yoursite.com

Every time you get a link from adult sites like, pornhub, xvideos and others, you get a naked backlink, coz at those site everyone is already naked.

If you get a link from fashion websites ,you get a dressed Backlink.

IF the whole URL is displayed in the post ... rather than just a word covering the URL beneath it is called Naked URL ...

TO b simple you can say if your Keyword is your anchor text then its called nakedURL keyword :P

Noman ( I won't tag him on here ) uses these as anchor examples;

Branded: “…If you want to learn more about the best dog beds, then visit The Real Dog Place”.
Generic: “…Want to discover what the best dog beds are? Then click here”.
Naked URL: “…In the following page, you can check many reviews on the best dog beds: http://www.TheRealDogPlace.com”.

http://www.blackhatworld.com
http://www.blackhatworld.com/
http://www.blackhatworld.com
blackhatworld.com/
blackhatworld.com

not really, these two are branded

Are naked backlinks bad, like Google sees them as spammy if you have too many in your backlink profile? Or maybe not as much linkjuice is passed?

No, 5-10+ years ago, before the internet was so commercial, most businesses would have a website and the backlinks they'd get from other sites would be naked URL's. Many old business sites, like your plumbers or RealEstate etc. they didn't care about link building. Google would catch to many real sites if they made this a penalty.

When you're trying to rank a page in a SERP analyse the top 5 sites in the SERP for their Anchor Ratio. This is what Google is happy with. Use similar ratios for your own link building strategy.
