Scrapebox "Custom Data Grabber" - Any Tutorials On How To Use This?

I currently have Scrapebox v2 64 bit installed and saw in some of the documentation that this is a newer feature called "Custom Data Grabber", but I'm at a loss as to how to use it. Do any of you know how this works?


I'm currently using the SEOTools plugin for Excel and it's XPathOnURL feature, which is sort of similar to Google Spreadsheets ImportXML functionality - so I'm somewhat familiar with grabbing XPaths on page content in Chrome, and it sort of sounds like that is what Scrapebox is able to do here (please correct me if I'm wrong). Either way I'd love to learn a little more about how this works if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Yes I understand how it works, but no I have not madea tutorial on it yet, although I will. But its a new feature that is still in development. I suspect that over the next few versions it will have multiple new options/tweaks so making a video now might be pointless to only have to redo it in 3 weeks.

It is a lot like the phone number scraper, which I made a video on and will be uploading in the next 24 hours. So it might help you out. You can subscribe to my channel here and YT will notify you when it comes out.

Yes its on the todo list, either next or 2nd to next. Also I have built a simple data grabber for grabbing youtube views and I will upload, over time, data grabber definitions I create to scrapeboxfaq.com or perhaps scrapestuff.com depending on where it fits. Then you just have to download them and use them, if its one you find useful.

It would be nice if custom grabber can:
1) save datas during process (not only at the end) to avoid the lost of datas in cse of crash
2) save all masks on the same line
3) work with xpath (easier than regex sometimes)

It can't save all masks on the same line because of how its built, it was only intended to be basic data grabber. But you can save the url with it and then combine all the data that has the same url with it. You would need to do this outside of Scrapebox. If they build a full data scraper at some point they said it could save all the data on 1 line, but thats an "if" they build it and if they do they don't have an eta.

No, its not ever going to.

The custom data scraper was built as a basic data scraper, it is what it is.

Scrapebox wanted to build out a full featured data scraper, but they need components to do it. They mapped it all out and some of the components that are needed simply do not exist. So if said components ever become available/are created in general, then they could do it. But right not its just not possible.

do you know how to add or who to contact to add a feature to the custom grabber so that it saves the URL, but also saves the name of the the mask, so makes it easier to identify what is what in excel. in the event of no data. Just save the mask name so one knows there is no data.

Are you using the basic custom data scraper (its only intended for scraping 1 piece of data) or the advanced one in the email scraper plugin? I assume the basic as the advanced already lets you do this. But here is a video
