How would one advertise a trend on instagram?

Obviously it's too late for this but for example say the fidget spinner?

Like who would you target?

I'm trying to advertise an item on kickstarter that just went viral, but I can't really figure out how to target it exactly.

Google Search keywords and phrases that are related to the item. Then go to Google trends and look up the history of search for the keywords you find that will bring in the most traffic. Paid, SEO, and FREE (aka spam) campaigns are what will create any buzz about your kickstarter. If the quality is there, then it should be no problem in going viral.
