Why doesn't Google just ignore web 2.0s DA?

I'm making my first sets of web 2.0s and I cant help wonder why Google would let them gain extra weight from being pages/subdomains of Tumblr and WordPress etc.

Is Google very aware that web 2.0 are one of the blackhat Seo techniques?

To fight blackhat stuff, wouldn't it be a good idea for Google to simply ignore any web 2.0's domain authority? Since a mysite.wordpress.com dosen't really have much to do with wordpress the company domain?

Also are there any web 2.0s that actually do well on their own? It seems like something people use to try making a website out, but never get serious with. If it had good content or authority they would upgrade the domain. (Another reason why i don't understand google gives them link weight like real sites)

Sorry if there is something obvious I'm missing, just trying to understand web 2.0s and Google more.

Google devalued web 2.0s a while ago. Back then you could rank with them without too much bother. These days you won't. If something gets abused too much and Google can nerf it, they will. Same happened to press releases as parasites for example.

I believe they are not as week as fresh new domains, but not as strong as strong main domain.

They work for weak keywords, Like really weak ones

To answer the op's question, it is my belief, based on numerous examples that I've seen, that google is now treating subdomains as separate domains in themselves.
So google can manually ban your website, site(dot)com, and you can set up a subdomain, 1.site(dot)com, and it will rank fine.

And if you move all of the content from site(dot)com to 1.site(dot)com, and forward all of the links to the relevant pages on the new subdomain, then 1.site(dot)com will rank in place of the original.

So i don't think that google gives much weight at all nowadays to web 2.0 sub domains, and pretty much treats them as separate domains.

And for what it's worth, google seems to be doing a very similar thing on a page by page basis. ie, treating every page as a different domain. I've had (have) websites where one page has been spammed with too much exact match anchor backlinks, and the page has been penalised, but the other pages on the site are unaffected.

And those unaffected pages have still utilised the link juice flowing from the penalised page, even though the penalised page cannot utilise that juice itself due to the penalty.

To emphasise the point about 2.0 subdomains not carrying the main domains weight, try ranking something with 2.0's that have 0 backlinks.

It can happen if you are targeting a term where your money site article ranks in the top 50 for your keyword with 0 backlinks because the keyword is so easy.
Then 20 or 30 web 2.0's on the same subject can also rank in the top 50 with 0 backlinks for the same keyword, and of course, getting links from 20 or 30 other websites that are ranking in the top 50 for the term that you are targeting will boost your serps very well.

But for a slightly tougher term that an article with 0 backlinks doesn't rank in the top 100 for, your individual backlinks will have to have power, and web 2.0's with 0 backlinks don't have any power whatsoever, so they won't rank, and won't help you to rank.

Have you ever known this to be the case on any real website? subdomains on penalised websites seem to carry no penalties whatsoever.
In fact, there was a thread on here not so long ago where someone had their website penalised, moved it all to a subdomain, re directed the links, and went back to number 1 with it, then a few months later that sub domain was penalised so he moved the whole thing to subdomain 2, redirected the links again, and went back to number 1. I think that he was on subdomain 6 at that point.

they wont ban tumblr root domain for trashy subdomains

but if you have empty or almost empty root domain and then you create spammy subdomains with game hacks you will get whole domain hanged. maybe not instantly, i doubt manual reviewers have such feature in their reviewing apps, but thats sure what is going to happen sooner or later in such case

It wasn't me. It was a thread on here.
If I remember correctly the whole domain was removed from google for spam.
That didn't affect the subdomains though which is the point that we are discussing.
It seems that google now treats subdomains as separate websites.

No because there no weight on a new da and pa web 2.0

But it good pratice to still have them as backlinks .
