I got a new project which SEO has been already done previously and targeted keywords are coming in top pages. But now they wanted to add new keyword. So how can we start SEO for new keywords?

Forget that the old keywords are associated with the webiste for off-page submissions, the same rule will be applied for the website. Activities like forum post, blog comment, blog post, guest post, etc. etc.

For on-page optimization, you probably need to add the focus keyword somewhere in the content. i would recommend to have a blog page for the website and insert your new keywords to particular blog page as well.

Write content for that keyword and optimize title tags for that primary keyword and do some on-page optimization as well.

Anlayze the keyword difficulty for that keyword and build quality contextual links to increase the rankings and traffic.
