Are back links from Forbes, huffington post, worth it?

Hey guys,

I run a subscription service for Social media growth with medium competition for my keywords.

I was wondering if paying ~ $3k for a feature on Forbes would be worth it in terms of an SEO investment alongside paying for a lot of smaller DA links as well.

For that kind of money? Not in a thousand years. Link is only as good as it is hard to get it. Everybody and his dog can get a link from Huffpost these days.

Not that familiar with that. But considering that you can buy domains from auctions that have Forbes link for example, without actually paying $3K for them, then yeh... I do not see anything that would justify a $3K link and some additional "exposure".

Considering how many other links you could buy that would far outweigh the value of one 3k forbes link
It would not be a very smart idea for seo purposes to invest in that opposed to other links

I have a site which has picked up three genuine, 100% organic Forbes links. Not the crap you buy, but links from real, legitimate columnists there who, on their own, found my content useful and linked to it within a relevant article.

None of them ever changed rankings, not to the page in particular nor to the site in general.

Take from that what you will. Sure, on some level, it has to have increased the overall authority of my site, and perhaps it has reduced the likelihood of getting an algorithmic or manual penalty, but, well, if I had paid for them, I'd be disappointed.

If your site is already making lots of money and you've got extra cash to burn then sure it'll help.

I think if they post your link on their article, that works good.
