I think this is just another one of those attempts at simple viral websites. There's a bunch such as (all are safe, save for the last one which has a curse word in it):

That last one has hella social shares. Maybe there is something to this concept; just throw up a small simple image / code and sneakily post on a popular forum for shares.

Hahaha, I don't try to create wars on here.

As for the social shares, that's the nature of it. People see it, they laugh, then they send it to their social network and it keeps going. That last one probably did so well because the topic is so controversial right now.
