any SEO effect if categories are not used?

I am working on a product based site rather than niche based and there is no categorization possible for post, will it be a problem if i don't use categories at all? all posts uncategorized? any expert on these subject?

all posts are keyword modifiers + product name and every modifier makes up a category, so I thought i'd better not use categories/ what do you think?
