We all know about these debates about .info domains and if they can rank or outrank .com

I always like to do tests and analysis and even build tools to help me get these tests done quickly. On a recent test I came through this website

Code:
www.upublish.info

Now some nice stats about this website

PR4
11500 pages indexed in google

Ranks on the first page at #1 for "publish article" and another +1400 keywords.

Code:
http://www.keywordspy.com/research/search.aspx?q=upublish.info&tab=domain-overview#/tab=domain-organic

9083 backlinks from external sites to the whole website

Code:
http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http://www.upublish.info&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=s

I'm sure there are many other examples but this is a hell of victory for a .info domain.

Now when you see someone talking about the uselessness of .infos please link them to this thread. And no I'm not gonna drop in an affiliate link for registering cheap .infos in this thread but you guys can still share some coupons though :p

This is kind of refreshing for all of those people that are just getting into IM. Go purchase the .info domain and add to this thread. Scripteen knows what he/she is talking about. Did the research to prove something to everyone.

Thanks is given.

If you don't have the money for the .info or if $10.00 seems like to much to spend buy the .info, build it up and make some money. Take the action.

I think this is one of the most useful recent posts I have read on here. This is very insightful.

Vbteam . info is probably the most successful .info i can think of. It comes up on just about every vbulletin search ive ever done

Of course they can rank

Doesn't google see .info as spammy this making you work very hard to get ranked? Is it worth all that extra time and effort?

all tlds will work if given alot of effort. I just think .orgs .nets and .coms require less effort. Good share.

Ofcourse .info can rank #1 but it just takes more effort and work than otherwise (.Com, .Net, .Org)

Plus its difficult to remember .info domain names unless its really really popular.

One more remark about this website.

The search for allintitle:"publish article" returns 53200 results and allintitle:"publish articles" returns 16300 results so yes both of the keywords are somehow competitive yet they rank #1 for both of them.

People rank with .info and people rank with autoblogs (duplicate content eh?) and we see this happening on a thread on this forum every now and then. I saw a post of someone here recently who is on position #6 for "health information" which we can imagine how competitive it is by just reading it without any kind of analysis and his website was just an autoblog with duplicate content! so guys instead of making false theories make you lazy to work, invest the reading time in doing efforts in link building to make your websites rank for 100 keywords instead of just 1.

In conclusion, Everything is possible in IM even if it's not possible with white hat techniques, it will be possible with black hat ones.

I have one .info ranked on page 1 for local real estate term and it takes so much more linking to keep it on page 1. I just now think they are more risky and if time is money I don't want to put that much time into it.

i also made the experience that info domains rank pretty well =)

i have tried info for them bikini keywords, never worked for me, i still prefer .com, and if you get an info and rank, someone else would get the .com and just rank better in a few months.

I have not tried .biz I just thought they were way off the scale, and in fact I have not seen many .biz on page one, they seem to have lost traction over the past couple years.

and if you get an info and rank, someone else would get the .com and just rank better in a few months.

That is if the .com was active or even available. How many times did you have to get the .net / .info because the .com is just parked? Too frustrating...

If you plan to get recurring visitors like a forum. .com is the only solution because many internet noobs always think that every site is a .com (I see many of those at my work place)

But if you plan do get visitors from google and they are not returning visitors, it won't matter which extension is it as long as you do your SEO homework.

Just my 0.02

That's my pet website. Proof enough that they can rank?
BTW, that's an autoblogg full of dupe content...
The first screenshot clearly shows that one .info domain with hifens can rank and be considered an authority. Just notice the triple entry and all the direct links to the categories below the 1st result.

As far as Google goes there is no difference between .info .org. com. .com.au and so on. The only change is in the .edu as that is a domain extension that is granted by ICANN.

The difference in the perceived quality in the site that is hosted with the .info extension... it's a branding thing really..

If anyone has evidence to the contrary I would love to see it.

There is a difference, and you clearly don't know what you are talking about.
.com .org .net will have more juice then other domains, that is a fact.
Obviously any extension can rank #1 for any keyword, but you will get some juice from .com .net .org. I'm sure this will change though, as it's stupid. It's like google saying .com .net .org sites have more info than the other extensions. Who's to say a .info site can't be more accurate and have more information than .com .net .org.
