How does BHW plan to deal with serial refunders and other obstacles Clickbank and WF face?

Question for the BST rules here.

I'm going through this situation now, so this question sparked.

Customer purchases, and requests refund for something not covered in refund policy, but rather because he did not read the sales copy hardly at all. After the order has been sent to him, he threatens "refund in 24 hours or i'll take it to PayPal"

In this case, some sellers would choose to refund and some would choose to fight it out so they don't get free product and waste your time. What is the staff's decision on something like this? OldSalt, IKnowSEO (and Damien's other office staff) and other mods that deal with stuff like this?

Sure, I will probably refund this one but what about others? What is the long term solution for something like this? It's a pain to put time and effort into delivering an order and then the customer wants you to work for free.

Buyers may start behaving like it's WF or Clickbank and you can buy 100 products and get a refund on them all. I don't want BHW to turn into a place for serial refunders, but hope the buyers only buy after doing accurate due diligence.

That's been a problem for years and I know on WF serial refunders get reported and can get banned. Of course that only helps as long as they don't just sign up to the site under a new name.

I personally had my share of refunds and YES most of the refunds are as a result of stupidity and not reading anything at all.

I provide a complete pdf guide with all my products and still get stupid Skype messages about the most common cases which are stated right on the sales page :)

So not sure how this would be even monitored or controlled. What I would recommend is always have a way to protect your product or service. Account access, registered user etc...

But I do agree, its getting a bit redundant :)

Simple really. Have a very clear and plainly stated refund policy.

Cover yourself as much as you can against most actualities. If your refund policy states the guy is entitled to a refund then theres not much you can do in this instance.

There's nothing to do I think I was dealing with things like this in eBay. People order from you, you ship the item when they receive it they open a case and MOST of the times getting refund. Now eBay and PayPal are follow logic, you CAN be a scam but the other dude could also be a scam so after you lost a bit of money the other guy can't repeat the process and he will get banned on the 4th time that he scam someone I had to refund a guy from the US who ordered two coffee machines worth of 1200 euro from EU and didn't realized that EU and US has different voltages even that I stated it clearly in the description. He said in the case that one coffee machine was broken, so I thought maybe while it shipped it got dropped or something but then he sent a pictures where I can clearly see that the guy broke it on purpose because he shipped only ONE coffee machine back (the broken one) and the original box wasn't broken at all, so I opened a new case and got half of the money back. Sad story but these bastards all over the internet.

PayPal doesn't cover items delivered electronically (software, MP3s, eBooks, cdkeys) ONLY physical goods are covered.

Yeah Paypals a pain in the arse for refunds. If a member here opens a paypal case against you despite it being in contravention of your clearly stated refund policy then they should be shitlisted and booted out of here.

Has Pay Pal changed?
In the past, as a buyer and seller using Paypal, They were always pro seller (in other words, it was literally impossible to get a credit back from Paypal, since the money is AUTOMATICALLY debited from Buyers account. (there must be some kinda new agreement with Vendors)....Hmmm

Anyone know?

Take him to the Shit List - if he's trying to scam you out of your services, that's what he deserves.

The Shit List can really only do so much against serial refunders though. You can definitely open a thread there, but nothing will stop them from still making purchases on BHW since you aren't required to have an account to make purchases.

I have been dealing with many such people where they try to take advantage of you. One of the incident was pretty hilarious, the guy used our service for over 7 days and then opened up a ticket asking for a refund, I redirected him to our TOS page stating that he doesn't qualify for any refunds, he replied me saying. "Who reads the TOS? Common". Then he opened up a dispute against us, the case is currently being reviewed by PayPal but would likely end up in our favor.

Hopefully we can come up with some kind of possible conclusion in the long run.

What I've done so far is: Found his BHW name, then asked him over Skype for his BHW name. Now he's trying to blackmail me by saying "I will tell you my name after you refund me." I already have his name, I just wanted to see if he is the type to play dirty and not reveal his name, which he is.

Hate shitlists lol. Turns the situation into a movie theatre for the forum and effects both parties negatively through constant judgement in the end.

I think maybe once OldSalt see's this, I can start a Skype group convo with us 3 and he can make the call on what is fair in these situations.

So this guy has taken it to my sales thread, so I guess I'll have to shitlist him to get him cleaned up. He think expired domains should be indexed on Google, meanwhile expired domains will lose their index once they are crawled again. I guess I might as well pop up a shitlist thread. Hate doing this stuff, but it's the only way to deal with people like this. Hope we can find a long term solution for buyers like these together.
