Hey guys, after all the massive sharing of information from our members such as Leith, lightningblitz, t0mmy and a few others.. I decided to take part and do a small case study, just to clear up some doubts, not only that, the opinions with false ideas were too high in this thread from those who don't test things themselves.

I'm going to show you how tumblr blogs can still rank your keywords, and that it's still a perfect site for you to create your web 2.0's on.

So how did I test this? I chose a keyword from my site that after 7 months has never budged, never appeared in the serps, nada.. it was the perfect keyword as I had never done any backlinking to it, it is also a category page.

The competition for this keyword is high, so it's definitely one of the reasons as to why it never budged.

I went to The SEO and kindly asking him for some expired tumblr blogs with high metrics, so that I could test this out and he kindly provided me with 10 of those bad boys, all high PA.

I then registered and created only 5 blogs/posts that were directed to this specific keyword and it's page with a 100% exact match anchor text, on all 5. I wanted to test with only 5 to see how powerful these blogs and it's effects can have.

The second step was firing up GSA SER, and I built backlinks for about two weeks, I choose to drip feed it but it wasn't really that necessary..

Then today, it jumped from - to..

In any case, tumblr blogs are still just as powerful. I've used and continue to use it for my link building strategy.

A link is always a link if it is non-spam as well as relevant. Definitely will continue building Tumblrs. It creates a diversification in the link profile as well as passes on some juice, totally worth it in my opinion!

It just is hekke, but I just wanted to prove that the meta refresh still passes link juice, after all this tumblr is now dead ideas.

what is meta refresh on expired tumblrs? I search it on google but still sorry I don't understand it.

Yes Mate!

Tumblr Are Still Working For Me Also.

Nice, tumblr still works, no doubts about that.

I have also some high PA tumblrs.
I dont understand you created blog entries on those tumblrs then add meta refresh to them to your main keyword/money page that you wanted to rank?

Hey OP, I have the same question as baxxx.. would you mind answering this when you get a chance?

I used aged tumblr accounts provided by the users I mentioned, created entries and then just used a normal hyperlink linking back to my article.

The meta refresh is automatically added now to tumblr blogs that apparently has default themes. I haven't tested this yet myself though, the theme matter.

Because apparently those who have custom themes, the links are a normal d0follow link, and not the new meta refresh currently added by tumblr.

Are you sure about that? I tested it today on my expired tumblrs with many various themes and links were always meta refreshed.

nice study ...... have to check my tumblr for the hyperlinks.

I don't see the mete refresh on my tumblrs. I think at least, i am looking into source of the page, and i can't find it.
I have one question though about tumblrs. I have some built and they are live for few weeks now, but they are not showing on GWT , some other web 2.0s that are also few weeks old are showing, is there anything wrong there ?
This is not my tumblr carmillacrackposts.tumblr.com , but i can't find meta refresh there, so there is no one, am i right ?

I'm releasing a free tool for finding expired tumblrs, even does the registration check. I'll come post here in a week or so when my site is up :-)

Look for "http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z" in the hyperlink source code, that's what we're talking about here. As BryanLee said, this was to study the effectiveness of tumblr after they added the meta refresh.

Looking forward to seeing it.

You can also include links in the sidebar section of tumblrs and they won't be converted to meta refresh links; they're normal links. The only downside is you lose the contextual aspect of having links in posts. I utilize both.

What kind of content you upload on your tumblrs? just reblog 4-6 things with content and then write 100-200 words with your link in it or?

I use various types of posts. Spun, readable content, a lot of photos, a few videos. Include links to various sites
