First some general info about the motivation, keyword and site :
It's a Dutch insurance keyword. I originally found this niche in oktober 2010 when I had just joined BHW and was starting to really experiment with micro niche websites. The keyword wasn't saturated yet, there were only 2 other IM guys competing, both white-hat. I got to #3 at one point (also WH, #1,2 are gov site) and was making quite a nice bit of pocket money. In january 2011 I decided to go to Thailand and Vietnam for 6 months and live off my adsense income. I got lazy though and neglected my main money sites while persuing hundreds of random projects. Slowly (even before I boarded the plane) my sites were dropping slowly in the SERPS. In the end the insurance site was #9 and only making about 5$ a day. One of my other main money sites got slapped with a -50 and I got fined a few thousand euro's by my government for not disabling my student public transport pass online =D.
I had to cut my trip short and go back to shitty old Amsterdam. I ended up selling the insurance site to pay off bills and be able to pay a months rent as I was completely broke. The last few months I have set up a small freelance-seo 1 man company and have had success hustling small contracts here and there. Things started to pick up and I will be starting a full time inhouse SEO job in the adult industry soon.
I consider this keyword my personal 'baby' and it really bugs me that the site I sold is now #3 again with no onsite or offsite changes. So far I have had a few failed attempts at getting back my original niche. Its really personal
The only problem is that now its very saturated. Pages 1 till 3 are all micro niche sites, blackhat competitors and other dodgy stuff.

Decided to code it in html/css instead of using wordpress. Another competitor was also not using any CMS and seemed to be doing well. Mad, our beloved and celebrated admin (and kinda my obi wan kenobi) also advised using rdfa semantic markup language.
My original plan was to keep this strictly white-hat and actually build a useful site (I'm pretty straight edge compared to most people here ;P) but in the end I loaded up scrapebox and thought : fuck it!
Just press a button, smoke a joint and let software do the work for you xD
History of backlinking :
July 2 (GRAPH IS WRONG) : linked 3 of my own PR0 sites (same niche, relevant content, relevant urls, all only 1 page) on different C-class ip's to my new site. Used 3 different anchor texts. Tried to keep it semi longtail to avoid possible penalties.
July 20 : Used a list of 600 dutch keywords to scrape blogs from the last 3 months. Got about 100k results. After a lot of posting and sorting with test URLS I ended up with a list of about 100 autoapprove PR 2-5 domains with all the inner pages. I blasted my money page directly with 120 different related anchor texts.
July 22 : Threw in a few nofollow links from popular Dutch newspaper sites. Manually commented on related articles, just used name as anchor because of the admins that check for spam.
July 28 : Manually created 10 blogs on populair 'create your own blog' sites. If you dig hard enough you can find golden gems Wrote 100 words on each one with varying anchor texts, also added URL to my profile. Made sure all the blogs had my anchor texts in the URL and title too. Only 1 of these has been indexed as of 30 July. I have had lots of success with this in the past and am currently teaching Zennoposter to do this automatically for me
July 29 : Noticing the sudden leap in ranking to #11 I got excited and scraped 100 nice PR5+ forums to make profiles on with scrapeboard. Made sure I used varying anchor texts (14 with some long tails thrown in). None of these links have been indexed yet either. I expect them to start showing up in the next few days.
I will keep you guys updated on what happens. Hope I can get my old position back again =D
Some random tips :
You can never use enough anchor texts. Throw in variations that are spelled incorrectly, weird long tales, anything to make it look natural.
Scrape your own lists! Take the time to sift through and find non-spammed high PR blogs.
100 words of correctly and properly written content carries more weight IMO than a 500 word bad-english and/or spun article.
Get backlinks from different sources! Don't only use one tool. Try to maintain a backlink profile that looks random, at least to an algorithm.
