I do Graphic Art, You market my service we split profits 50/50

Hi, I'm a graphic designer. I offer a good service that includes things like making banners, adverts, logos, buttons and graphics of all sorts. I also design websites and wordpress blogs. I do photo editing, I do animation, business cards and more. I currently have a website where I offer these services, but the problem is I need more clients. This is where the Joint Venture comes in.

I am willing to do a JV with someone who knows how to market a service like mine. I'll do all the work and take care of all the orders, support and emails and anything else, you just bring in the customers. Right now I am offering a 50/50 split. My services are typically $70/hour, so you get about 35$ minimum for every transaction. I offer the clients specials and discount rates for small jobs, but 50% is always the split no matter what. We can work out the details and stuff when you pm me.

Ok I'm not exactly sure how you got that idea, my usual rate has been $70/hour and never any other rate. Now, in my profile here in BHW world, under occupation I put :

"I do any type of graphic design, including animation. My rate is 60$ per hour to BHW members only."

because I do appreciate this community and I do offer $10 off to the members here, but my rate has always been $70 to the average client. Also, I'm a flexible person, sometimes I can offer a lower price for a really small job, but whatever that rate is, you get half of it if we JV together. I do quality work, it's not crappy, that's why I charge what I do. Of course pricing strategy can always be restructured to get the most clients possible,I just thought that 35$ to each partner minimum per job would make it worth each persons time invested.

Keep in mind, I'm probably only going to JV with 1 person. Also, please PM or post here if you would like to see sample of my work, I have a website I just revamped. So you can check it out.

I don't think that 70 per hour is out of line for a good graphics guy.

I agree with you BTB. I know a bunch of really good graphics guys, which I am one of and I charge a min. of $90/hour as my base.

You go to think more broadly. You are probably thinking these forums where everyone is looking for a deal, but if you market to offline businesses, $70/hr is actually a little on the lower side. My friend's husband charges $75/ as a friends and family discount. And when you think that your website is your image, companies will pay for a good quality image.
 
I would like to see some work posted here on BHW. That would get things moving for you.

as the 75 goes thats a little high for what is being done here on BHW. Now if you are dealing with local companies you should be up around 175 to 190 for design work.

Lets see some work posted.

This is very true, I have people offline actually telling me to raise my rate but to be honest, I don't have enough business clients and I need to keep my rate competitive until I get where I want to be. I'm great at graphic design work, but I'm NOT great at marketing, that's why I need someone else who knows how. You can have solid gold bars, but if you don't know how to sell or trade them, they are going to collect dust.

Well some people go to post education schools and junior colleges to learn graphic design. You can check your local junior college courses and see what they have available. Personally, I learned under the tutelage of a close friend years ago and just developed my skills on my own as a hobby ever since.
