You know, it's not a bad thing to admit that you screwed up.

We all do it and I did it pretty recently... actually hosed a couple of good clients.

When you make a mistake, own it, tell the truth and fix it.

Then overcompensate for your error... if the client does not want compensation for your error or refuses it, go ahead and offer something different.

Don't get paid for something unless you provide the product/service that you offered and don't get paid if you did not supply the service/product in a timely manner.

Everyone makes mistakes but the guy that makes up for his mistakes is the one that will shine.

Business is not all about making money... business is really about making sure that you take proper care of your clients and if you mess up, own the mistake and make up for the mistake.

Good business people are good people and care about the well being of their clients.

Yup, takes a lot of guts to admit when you screw up. A lot of people will just make excuses or blame it on someone else. It's harder to admit to yourself that you screwed up, a lot of people don't want to damage their ego.

Great post. I have lots of respect for someone who can man up and admit they made a mistake.

On the other hand, I hate people who try to brush it off like nothing happened. I don't trust those types of people.

Are you talking about your new logo?

Not at all... that is a new venture that we are going to make live tomorrow actually but I am sure that I will be apologizing for errors there as well.

I'm pretty good at the whole error thing... actually I'm the best.

Sorry Btb I was just being a sarcastic **** :)
I 100% agree with your post- I always own up to my mistakes - it's healthy to recognise your mistakes because learning from them is what makes you stronger/better.

i had a very personal experience in my sales thread recently and I felt the same way... Paused the service for a month and set things straight (not marketing here).

Same here.

I screwed up big-time. I trusted someone I shouldn't have, because I didn't check things out as thoroughly as I should have. Had to pause my BST, shut down my site, and issue some refunds.

I made sure I refunded a bit more than what the customers paid, to cover any fees and hassle. Yes, I screwed up, but good customer service goes a long way in keeping that customer not necessarily happy, but satisfied with the outcome. A satisfied customer will usually give you a second chance.

Keeping a customer happy when things are going good is relatively easy. The true test is satisfying the customer when things are going to hell in a bucket.

The simple rule of thumb I use: ALWAYS treat the customer the way I would want to be treated.

True. If someone messes me around, I get annoyed, but if they go out of their way to resolve the issue I would have even more confidence to do business with them again! Because you know they have integrity:)

Same as when I fuck up I will go out of my way to make it right.

I would add.....you are never too old to make mistakes, the learning process never stops and if you embrace those mistakes, it will make you wiser, and hopefully a better person.
Now........... if I could only remember what mistakes I made today :D
Yes, I 'm old but it is only a state of mind.

totally agree with this, good post BTB, you should make a blog with your inspirational and motivational weekly lounge posts in it

I recently gave a customer double his money back and when I got things fixed up, I gave him double what he originally ordered to. So I paid him to let me build links... LOL

Greg you do always take care of your customers.

You can mix up my orders anytime!! ;)

The hardest thing to do for me is to admit that I'm wrong, which is very common. Nobody is perfect so we all get lots of practice :).
