Best car under 50k?

I'm planning on buying myself a nice little christmas present, but I'm having trouble deciding on what to buy.

Right now I am interested in a 2011 Camaro SS Convertible, A 2007 mercedes benz roadster, or a corvette (used 2008-2009 zo6 or 2010-11 base model)

What would you guys buy?

I'm putting around 15k down, so financing won't be too bad.

If you're putting down 15K, I would buy a 15K car.

I don't like the idea of borrowing against a depreciating asset.

new audi a4 at the end of next year
new lexus gs coming out any day now

I'm not really into flashy sports cars so for 40k I'd go with a used Mercedes s350 (though I don't know their price in the US and don't know if it fits your budget). I've had sports cars in the past and they're fun to drive but I think they make people look immature.

For a little bit of weekend fun a sports car is nice but the luxury sedan remains the symbol of prestige. Of course, it depends what you're looking for and what other cars you own.

I totally get where you are coming from, and that's where I am having trouble with the decision.

A benz would just be classy, but then again a Camaro would be a pretty sweet ride. That's why I am considering the Benz roadster, kind of the best of both worlds.
