I need some help identifying what kind of material this is if anyone knows, I have a general idea of what it could be but I am looking for advice from others as well. For the time being I am just going to post the pictures to see what kind of advice I can get from them. Later in the post I will explain where the metal came from. Besides Identifying the metals I am also wondering where I could go to get it checked out to determine the amounts of metal in it.. not your average post I know but I always come here first for advice I need to find some metal forums lol.

Seriously man, cmon! Does this look like a metal forum to you? This is an IM forum, as you said, find a METAL FORUM and post this question.

If you seriously think you're going to get an answer here, you will fail at marketing. Couldn't be any less targeted, most people here have probably never worked with metal in their lives.

It's the lounge, Dude, chill out.

Anything and everything is just about allowed here.

It is either Power metal or Gothic .. not sure

It's uranium if I'm not mistaken.

Wouldn't the smart thing to do would be to post where it came from FIRST , which could surely help narrow it down a lot more than just a picture?

Gold,it looks like gold...but untill u check it you can't know for sure...and just some pictures won't solve the mistery :D

Porphyry this is the lounge and you never know what kind of advice I could get, this is an internet marketing forum where people have a wide variety of niche sites maybe some have sites in the metals you never know man, you could of always hit the back button..

Anyway its not aluminum copper or zinc, I have it narrowed down to Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium (high grade platinum) or possibly a mixture of all three metals (along with some junk possibly) this came from catalytic converters not the ceramic's inside but the coating around the outside of the honeycombs.. I bought the casings of the catalytic converters off a friend (he guts the converters and sells the 'honeycombs') anyway I sold the shells because they are a certain grade of steel and inside some of the higher end converters he left out the coatings (they are sometimes hard to get out) anyway I noticed that alot of them were coated in silver metal, I managed to seperate most of the metals from the coatings and got a couple hundred grams of the stuff sitting around collecting dust but im not sure what to do with it.

Im looking for a web forum where I could get more advice about the subject or places where I could go to get it checked out. (At first I thought a jewelery store but was unsure or maybe a gold shop?) Anyway still looking forward to any advice that can be given on what I should do with the stuff.

I dunno what kind of metal it is but is that a little red coke straw next to the pile?

My money is on Iron Pyrite as well; but the lovely things with metals is you can easily figure it out via various heat tests

could be palladium but i doubt its rhodium. rhodium is the most expensive metal more so then platinum.
