Crazy idea but I know that is exactly how to become successful. I friend I respect was telling me that he wanted to be a millionaire and was asking me ideas and running his thoughts past me on how he would become a millionaire.

Essentially I told him he had no right to be thinking about becoming a millionaire or any right to even think about having 10K in the bank. I told him he did have a right to think and desire 1K a month in revenue though.

People often get too far ahead of themselves and think riches, cars, boats, jewelry etc when they are not making even a small amount of money from their online ventures.

The fact of the matter is that you need to learn to crawl, then take baby steps, then walk, then run and then run fast and it is an extremely rare individual that can get to the run fast part without going through the initial steps.

You will not start out as a manager of a big corporation without having had less responsible positions whether at that corporation or other similar corporations and IM is not any different; you need to work your way up.

You need to achieve small goals before even considering a higher loftier goal.

That is a standard principal that applies to almost every aspect of your life.

Want a wife? You have to have a girlfriend first.

Want to drive a really sharp car? You need to learn how to drive first.

Want a loan for 500K? You need to build your credit up with smaller loans first.

Want to be the best basketball player? You need to learn to dribble and shoot first.

Once you learn to succeed then you can succeed... but you have to LEARN to succeed first.

Most people do not know that success is a learned skill... succeeding at getting more offline clients comes from learning how to get one.

Succeeding at building a portfolio of cash flow websites comes from learning how to succeed at making one generate cash.

Succeeding at winning a championship in sports comes from learning what it takes to win one game.

Fun fact: When I was a teenager I was on what was called a "Cross Country" team. That sport is one whereby you race but you race longer distances. The level I was at when I learned how to be successful we ran a 2.4 mile/3.86242 km race against other schools in the area.

I sucked at it when I started out... in fact I was so bad that in my first race, the coach yelled at me during the race that I was not giving it my full effort when indeed I was.

So, as the season progressed I went the extra mile in training. I would get up before school and run 5 miles in the dark: I would go down in the basement of my home and lift weights; I asked my Mother to cook specific foods so that I was eating better than others; on weekends I would do LSD (long slow distance); I would go to an area with steep hills in the evening and sprint up them... none of which was part of the regular training our coach had us doing.

Imagine this... I started to get better... started to get faster... started to actually look like a runner BUT I could not win a race. I would come close but could not close the deal.

I remember the day I learned to succeed though and I remember it super well as I learned more than how to succeed/win at an athletic event, I learned how to succeed in life.

I remember the opponent... I remember the venue... I remember exactly how I learned to win that day. I remember guys on my team telling me where to go after the race as having never won before I didn't know what I was supposed to do.

I went on to winning a bunch of races after that as I now knew how to win one race. In fact at the age of 16 I was on the cover of Runner's World magazine.

Each and every one of you has the ability to be successful and can be successful if you apply the very same principals... learn to succeed on one level and carry that knowledge to the next one.

I am 100% there is not one person on this site that

cannot learn to succeed.

100%.

Make the choice to succeed and do the work to succeed and you will.

Make the choice to succeed and not do the work and you'll not succeed.

It's a simple formula but so many do not grasp the concept and that is a real shame.

So take the bull by the horns and start succeeding at little things; learn to make that little cash so you can apply those principals to making that larger cash.

Go the extra mile and get up before everyone else and out work them; when it is time to call it a day, DON'T... do change your lifestyle so that you are the guy that gets their pic on the cover of the magazine in your arena of IM.

You can do it if you CHOOSE to do it... plain and simple.

Make that choice.

Earn the right to think about becoming a millionaire.
It's your choice; choose success.

first :p

I fully agree. I fall into this at times, and have gotten really good at catching myself. Others do it too, some of my JV partners spend too much time talking about the best end result, that is months or years down the line instead of focusing on the small details to get things rolling

p.s. don't like the "first" make you think I don't take your post serious. its much appreciated of course

Great post BTB!

Contrary to the hype you read in the titles of many WSO's,
("Make $4000 This Week With My Brain Dead Method!"), it
doesn't work that way. You need to find something that
DOES work - even on a small scale. Then scale it up by
automation and/or outsourcing the grunt work. You start
with a zero ($10), and then keep working it so that you
are slowly but surely adding a zero to your income ($100
-$1,000 - $10,000 - and yes, even $100,000!

It doesn't come fast and it doesn't usually happen on the
first try, but if you stick with it and throw out what doesn't
work and keep what DOES work, you WILL find that groove. :)

Stay Hungry . . . and believe in yourself.

Cheers! - "Wiz"

Great stuff, I love reading posts like this. If you ever talk to those who are successful, they all seem to have the same advice. If you talk to those who "want" to become successful, you hear the same old stories. As humans, we want everything to be quick, especially things like success and money. When they aren't as quick as we had projected or others have told us, then we give up. Those who succeed look past that. They are future orientated and take learning as successes. I always look at it as natures way to weed out those who do not want it bad enough. After all, we cannot have one million pro basketball players and the whole world cannot be millionaires.

I have failed ridiculous in my life and still am not where I want to be. But, I know that every time I fail, I am one step closer to living out my dreams. Oh, and I can really feel it this time. So, I keep on plugging away and failing and succeeding until I finally reach my destination :)

Very inspiring post. Sometimes I wish I was surrounded by more successful people. I just need to motivate myself to keep thriving.

Find out what needs to be done in order for you to reach your first success online, plot out action steps for each one and write it down on a piece of paper. Follow your action steps daily until you reach your first success.

If you feel the need to complain about not succeeding, look at your paper and see if you have completed all the steps and requirements, if not, you do NOT have the right to be complaining.

This is what I have done in the past and it has put me back on track each time I felt like cursing out at the world for being unfair :p

Thanks for this post :) I really need more inspiration like this.
I'm young, and got into IM not so long ago.. so far I've made $120 from CPA, and maybe like $100 from writing articles, and now working for someone here on BHW with some other stuff.
I guess just this much success puts me higher than a lot of people who are at $0.
Sometimes I feel like giving up, when a lot of the things I do don't go my way, or I need more money to make a certain method work.
But a few days ago, I bought Scrapebox as my first SEO tool, and I hope to be buying a few more soon to get one of my sites that I've been really focusing on, up and going.

I guess I just need to be patient and keep at it :o

Thanks BTB, really encouraged me too keep working :)

Great posts BTB and WIZ!

And yeah if you want to succeed, go learn to succeed... Life is no shortcut, you have to go through the hurdles, hardships and all that but at the end of the day, there is success waiting for you if you're consistent and determined enough to achieve it!

Your post charged me up and I'm back to work with all the energy :)

Thanks for setting me straight Greg ... the way to get to $1,000,000 is to achieve $10,000 after achieving $1000 after getting that first $100. Perseverance and determination will go a long way.

you are right, still I'm searching the right one for me to scale up.

thanks for this post, now i see i dont have rights to think about millionaire.need think first about small amount, achieve it then scale up :)
