    Default SAPE Finally Busted?

    Hey Guys,

A lot of movement has been occurring around the forum regarding SAPE links.
Its no news that Google has been trying to shut SAPE down for some time now.
Has the time finally come? Is it time to move onto some underground link exchanges?

I got the Manual Action Message on one of my sites using SAPE. The classic unnatural links message.
I could care less. Its just another site that I churn and burn on a regular basis.

If you were using SAPE to powerup some Tier 1s then that should have safeguarded you to a certain extent, depending on how you used it.
If you did a direct approach it might have put a penalty.

    Here is Matt Cutts Tweet:
Thinking of ghost-related puns for a spam network. "They try to look super natural, but using them will dampen your spirits.

Something to do with Ghost Rank?(A Popular SAPE Related BST)

If this is true it will become the Ultimate Neg SEO Tool. Point some SAPE links to random competitor and get it penalised?
I used SAPE from this forum but I will not out the owner for obvious reasons.
    Have you gotten the penalty?
Here are reports of SAPE Related Penalties:

The links are rented... the penalty will expire after some time when you stop linking to your money site.

Obviously they will never be able to shut the whole thing down, but they don't have to. They're hitting so many websites with penaltys that that it'll strike fear into site owners and make the risk not worth it.

I noticed the pun too, and thought back to that particular service. The problem is when a solid service comes to the fore and every man and his dog uses it.

It shouldn't be a problem getting out of the penalty; stop the subs, wait a month and they'll drop right off. Send in a recon request and it should work. But if people used them right, then it should just be churn and burn

The recent manual action notices have not been directly to SAPE users, it may seem so but just because the main people who are paranoid are the people who use them and post about it.

I have a friend who just had a really shitty moneysite spammed to death with GSA and two days ago he had the same thing.

A client of mine had one of his old sites slapped yesterday, he did use SAPE.

A testing site of mine that I spammed heavily (no SAPE whatsoever) also got it the same day.

Just a big wipe-out, not about SAPE.

If it was about SAPE directly, they wouldn't be fucking with regular sites at the same time, but it would be targeted to just SAPE users.

No all sites are fine. Matts Comments and the odd site being hit does not = end of Sape. Same thread every month by someone whose site has been hit. These threads get a little boring.

Yes it doesnt mean end of SAPE. SAPE is a really large network.
I am just saying that maybe Google is catching up and we have to look towards underground networks as SAPE cannot be considered a "secret" link network anymore.

Haven't seen anything, monitoring about 20 sites with sape links. Some of them are connected directly, some through pyramids.
OP, I've seen such threads every week on russian seo forums, sape isn't dead and, to my mind, will never be dead, some of sites get banned, yes, but webmasters just built another 10 and drop previous. The only problem is that google doesn't really bother them, and they don't care if they have bans from google.

Yea personally I have also completed stopped using sape. It happened to me about a month ago. Just 2 weeks after all my sape links were up, I got unnatural link notice in GWT and site was penalized soon after. Not worth the risk anymore imho.

Well, what I can say!!: Google have algorithm to see if a site who was getting just Low Quality Links, Suddenly gets Good amount of PR 3,PR4 etc Links. They trigger the G-Radar and Site Gets a Email Alert to Remove Un-Natural Links. It is simple If I am Google I do the Same..1 site Gets Low Quality Links for whole Year or site live..and suddenly Even PR5 Links..Right You will get..
For Who not Agree No Offense..It is just my views. Who understand :Can try Plan like this Start with 2-5 PR 2, Sape for few days, and after 5-10 days Build PR4, etc. But Remember You have to Build Very Slowly like 5 Links Per day and start with Low PR's..with combined 200 Web 2.0 Per 5 PR2, or PR 3 and you Win..Sape is a Great Tool At this time too. But it is Must be Used with Tricks and Strategies..Because Google Manual Review Service or anything you try to get Recover from Google Penality Email you can not Recover even by Removing The Sape Links..To Recover Plan ..!!Act..Win!!

I have received the same message as a lot of you about unnatural link building and my links were definitely SAPE.

Sape has definitely been hit in some way.

My sites haven't moved yet (however I expect i will lose ranking in the next few days).

I think this is probably more to do with a Halloween related update/refresh more than anything.

But I ask you this: give me one example, just 1, from the last six months where Matt Cutts has actually been correct about anything SEO?

He says one thing, the SERPs tell a much different story.

    Lightbulb Re: SAPE Finally Busted?

I am pretty sure that sites which had 200-300 links from various sources and another 200-300 links from SAPE got hit. The way SAPE services was appearing every now and then forced me to take precautions. I even have a site that is getting 1k+ links from SAPE and SAPE-Like networks and it's holding a strong position @ #2 for a massively competitive keyword.

Here is what I found, plain and simple precautions -
    • Push SAPE links slowly. Do not use it on a 1 day-30 days old site.
    • Keep dripping links from various platforms and SAPE at the same time.
    • If you are aiming at getting 300 links from SAPE, send 150 links this month and 150 on the next month.
    • Diversify links from SAPE and SAPE-Like networks. Don't get too many links from foreign TLD's. Don't get too many homepage links. Mix with high PR and PR0 links.

Again, if half of your links are coming from high PR static sites it will surely get hit. If you can't wait for results, better leave SEO. Period.

Sure, they are taking a look at Ghost Rank, big whoop. You watch Matt try to create a big fuss over SAPE and get as many people scared as possible.

If Fox News did this it would be called propaganda... and that my friends, is exactly what it is.

The worst thing is all the comments on his tweet. All those sheep drinking his bs up like chocolate milkshake.

    % of a fuck given by me = 0

I even noticed 2 spam websites ranking for "payday loans" yesterday. This apparently is a niche they are manually reviewing?

Google's appetite for growth remains unabated, and they will continue their efforts to re-route all internet marketing dollars into their bank accounts. These efforts by Google are all intended to convert link buyers into Adwords users. I would hope that anyone who gets nailed by Google's bullshit will pull the plug on all of Google's products/services.

Why not use a buffer(web 2.0) when using Sape links?

I am also curious what is the people that are getting hit percent on anchor text diversity? This guy posted:

Had some of my "white hat" sites hit. Using a handful of guest posts and not much else.
Site with 30 links got hit with the same penalty. Looking at my other sites that definitely aren't white hat but have a much higher anchor text diversity I think one of their major triggers is >50% exact match anchors.

I've seen this thread sooo many times now since we first made the networks popular with Speed Rank, also Cutts has done these stupid vauge tweets in the past too and each time he does this shit he gets exactly the reaction he wants - threads, second guessing and panic... All part of the G propaganda machine.

I know first hand Google targets sape they take down sites all the time but it continues to grow so continues to work its been like this since the beginning thus replacing dropped links is a weekly routine. These messages have also been handed out to sites without Russian links and sites with them, heck didn't they send the BBC one of these a wile back and there was an uproar about it.

crusher hit the nail on the head and a few others here too nailed it, if your going to fire a load of Russian links at a site, cross your pretty little fingers and hope for magic then forget it, it will be short lived and your inviting a manual penalty from the offset! Those days are gone now they have been gone for some time tbf because Google is now well aware of the networks so has obviously set up some flags, If you have a decent enough link profile before hand and you continue to build other links wile then dripping your Russian links then you will be golden, its really simple - avoid raising any red flags like "an influx of just high pr links to a 0 link site" which would result in a manual review.

thisi is the problem buying into the latest and greatest paid link network

its only a matter of time which is why you shouldnt be using popular link networks on valuable sites. if its churnand burn then no big deal but dont be using sape on clients websites

2 of my sites got a manual penalty today and they were using Sape and other Sape like networks, among many other things.
So I can't be sure what caused this.

    Got the unnatural links message.
How long have people seen it take before the penalty is applied?

Got an unnatural links warning 2 days ago, I presume due to SAPE links as I have not done any other link building for this site. I won't name the service used on BHW but I'm sure you can guess.

I guess you should understand the risks you take when purchasing such links but it seems their value has or is about to decline rapidly. Be warned!

What a fucking shit position to be in, saw no return from the links then they completely destroy all of your rankings.

Here is a fact, we do not see Matt for months on end typing into Twitter "Going To Have To Check Out Some Spam Blog Comments" Why? Because they do not work like Sape. He only has to check out what actually works. Many people will have great success with Sape, and others will see sites get hit which have used Sape.

I have diversified links but a few of my SAPE sites got the manual penalty warning too. Rankings are still holding strong. So far, only sites promoted with SAPE has received this notice. We'll see what happens next. Good thing about SAPE is if site gets hit, all I gotta do is cancel the subscription and throw away the site.

This is my first time getting a manual penalty message since that time when they sent out the mass messages.

It's fear mongering. This is all propaganda. Google is trying to look tough, trying to plant the image in our brains that "Google knows.", while in fact, Google didn't know. They discourage the SAPE users by saying that they can detect the links, while in fact, it is not. A lot of my sites rank using black hat techniques alone, and has went for months and banking hard without any warnings or penalties from Google. What we must do now is not over-estimate Google, but don't under-estimate them also.

All my sites using SAPE are still ranking well and good.
All my sites ranked using only GSA is also still ranking well and good.
Ironically, some of my sites, built through "standard" white-hat, Matt-loving protocol is not ranking at all.

Sure, Matt may intend to "attack" Ghost Ranks, but though he may attack the brand he may not know the whole network. SAPE is large, and though some of it may have been hit, I think it just scratch the surface of SAPE. If we say that we are hit, are you sure that SAPE is causing the penalty? It may be other backlink method that you use. It's unwise to just use SAPE, so you must have other links. And if you are hit, it's unwise to blame just SAPE, they may be other factor that cause the penalty.

Why do people in this forum keep calling it propaganda?

Yes, some of it is a scare tactic to deter people away from link buying schemes. I have no doubts about this.

However let's look at the facts here:

Almost everyone that has replied in this topic has received the message and the only common ground between all of us has been SAPE links. What this translates to me is that Google have worked out enough about SAPE or other link buying networks to flag them (whether it be how they are positioned on pages, High PR sites that have exact anchor links.. or…whatever it is… they have obviously figured out some form of a pattern that is flagable in link buying networks.

As google gets more sophisticated in culling spam, I would hope that networks like SAPE are also investing BIG MONEY in new techniques to keep their programs just as sophisticated.

    That's my 2 cents worth.

Im just going to start with a new batch of sites…. churn and burn

Here is probably what Matt Cutts has worked out so far. .com domain + most backlinks to it = .ru = sape been used = slap site. None of mine have been hit yet, but what I do tend to do is dilute all the .ru down with thousands of web2 .com .co.uk .net .org.
