Unnatural links to your site—impacts links ANY EXPERIENCE?

Got Unnatural links to your site?impacts links manual action on the site. Anyone has already experience it? Here is more info about that:

From what I understand google took action only on pages which are outside of my site and I shouldn't bother about this penalty?

Exactly,

OP, get your site out of G Webmasters, try indexing your site through social media or other methods.

As goldendeli said, its a manual penalty and could be avoided if u follow my advice :) (or any other BHWMs :) )
 
I also got "Unnatural inbound links" warning yestarday .
Confused what to do now.
wheater to build more links or start removing spammy links
 
Doesnt look you guys understand what you talk at all. Anyone more experienced with this new type of penalty? Because it clearly states that G took action only on incoming links and not on whole site:
ou don't control the links pointing to your site, no action is required on your part. From Google's perspective, the links already won't count in ranking. However, if possible, you may wish to remove any artificial links to your site and, if you're able to get the artificial links removed, submit ahttps://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/answer.py?answer=35843. If we determine that the links to your site are no longer in violation of our guidelines, we'll revoke the manual action.

In my experience, although the links have been devalued and you don't need to take action as such, you'll find that the keyword phrases effected will be "capped" and you wont be able to rank higher for them until those links are removed and the penalty is lifted.

So yes, they already don't count. But you wont be able to improve your rankings for the effected phrases until you get the penalty lifted.

Also, what would taking it out of WMT actually do? Other than not getting the message, your website is still going to be given a manual penalty.

I assume you built sape links? Stop the subscription straight away. Get together a list of the sape links and manually check to see if the links are still live. Wait until they all disappear (usually a month, as they are hired) and then send a reconsideration request

Thats bad advice and clearly you aren't aware of how they currently work. Google now tells you whether it's a site wide problem or partial problem. If it's partial, then you know that your website is gonig to fuck up, just the rankings you've been targeting.

Also, I'm not sure what the other guy means "indexing by social media". Penaltys don't de-index a website. Especially not manual penaltys.

EDIT: I re read the second comment and he is right. The penalty is for YOUR website. Sorry!

I also got this massage for a few of my sites using Sape links. So I guess G is after Sape :damnit:

In may past experience if you remove a big number of backlinks pointing to your website at once you also get a slap by G and huge drop of ranking.....at least this is what happened to my site and I had to submit reconsideration request and explain what I did and 2 weeks after my ranking was partially recovered.

So any advice how to handle this situation less painful will be highly appreciated.
 
That particular penalty is targeting specific links which G have found and taken a disliking to. It will devalue the links and hold back your rankings for that keyword because they will assume that if those links are manipulative then you are clearly going all out to rank for those particular keywords.

Mass removing shed loads of links is not the answer, and you could end up doing more harm than good by removing links that aren't devalued and are actually giving your rankings a boost. That's why you had a big drop last time andanbg.

Instead, you need to compile a full list of all your links and take a fairly brutal manual review of each one in turn. Any links that look like they might be unnatural will need to be removed and/or disavowed. Pay particular attention to any links with optimized anchor texts - especially exact match stuff. You'll then need to detail all of that in a recon request and cross your fingers. Usually a good idea to include the logins to a Google account where the engineer can see your link removal requests going out and a log of your attempts.

Actually when I had huge drop of ranking for that website I've contacted Google (submitting reconsideration request) explaining what I did and providing them with a list of the few most important keywords a lost the ranking.

Then the ranking for these keywords has been partially recovered after some time, but other not so important keywords (but still good) that I was ranking well without really optimizing went down the drain and never came back. They are stuck on page 5 and not moving at all for the last 2 years.

It is not worth the effort to optimize for these keywords. I just wanted to share this experience as I never found time to do that.
 
I just got the same message for two sites in the last 24 hours. Both were SAPE packages purchased from a post on this site. They were not even working well with my rankings and I was just in the process of cancelling them when I got the manual penalty.

I intend to remove several links, compile a full case study to Google and submit the reconsideration request. From what i have read the penalty is more againt the links (completely ignoring them) than actually hitting the site as a whole but I guess several threads on this forum selling SAPE style links need to be warned!
 
I got hit 2 days ago with unnatural links - impact. However, I've already cancelled SAPE services on late July after 3 weeks of subscription.
Could this still be the cause?

It could well be. They seem to be infiltrating SAPE more and more. Not saying SAPE links don't work any more, you just have to be a bit more realistic about how you use them. Using them directly to a site that you care about as a long term project probably isn't the way to go (and hasn't been for some time IMO).

There are other ways to use them though. Try building them to your lower tiers, or to a throw away domain that 302's to your money site (just make sure it gets cached first). Again, not a long term strategy, but if you're looking for some quick and easy wins, that's what I'd be doing.

As far as getting out of the penalty goes, you've certainly made a good start by binning off the links. Now it'd be a case of doing a bit of grovelling and demonstrating to G that you've "learnt your lesson". Don't expect to get out of it on the first recon. Or even the 2nd one come to that. I'm finding it takes around 3-4 attempts to get it revoked.

Hi Martin

A 301 may pass the penalty (parhaps not so much with manuals but certainly with algo penalties), whereas a 302 will redirect visitors to your money site but won't pass the penalty through and will keep your money site safe. Of course you only need to do that if you actually care about your main site. If you're not bothered about your money site then you could just use SAPE links straight at that - as long as you're not going to be upset when the penalty comes through.

Hi,

Ah, got it thanks a lot! So if iam getting it right it is best to use 301's if you want to give your money site a boost in rankings? I did buy some aged domains, they have good pa / da en some backlinks. I want to ad the aged domains with fresh backlinks and 301-ing it to the money site, hopefully this will give my money site more authority and will boost its ranking in google.
