I have a feeling this was planned from the start.

NEW YORK -- A person familiar with Facebook says CEO Mark Zuckerberg is forming a political group to address issues such as education reform, immigration and scientific research.

The person says the group will formally launch in the coming weeks. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is not public. The San Francisco Chronicle, Politico and others reported on it earlier.

Zuckerberg, 28, has already used his Facebook wealth to address political issues close to him. He donated $100 million of Facebook stock to Newark, N.J., schools. He also has announced plans to donate nearly $500 million in stock to a Silicon Valley charity to fund health and education issues.

In February he hosted a campaign event in his Palo Alto, Calif., home for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

    ---

Mark Zuckerberg is putting his money where his mouth is and organizing a political group to help change the U.S. immigration system.

The Facebook founder -- who has been vocal about the need for reform -- is creating an advocacy group comprised of technology leaders, who will push for legislative reform on immigration, education and other related issues, according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal.

The political group will reportedly be formally announced during the next few weeks, and will function as a nonprofit organization.

Zuckerberg aims to raise $50 million for the organization, and is helping to fund the group with his own money, as well as funds from other tech executives including LinkedIn, the report stated.

we aren't discussing politics, especially since the party doesn't even exist yet.
    we are discussing zuckerberg's actions.

but just to make sure this doesn't go off on a jag, i'm going to close this thread
and let people draw their own conclusions.

    :D
