    Hello to everyone,

I have decided to start a journey thread in order to try to get my website to a next level. Currently it is earning little below the 50$ a month. It a 1 year old website.

I am hoping to get the right advice from experienced people here and will be sharing my questions here in the thread.

To balance that I will also be sharing various knowledge sources that I follow in my SEO efforts. Hopefully it will be of help to those who know less than me. This should also clarify how and why I am doing certain things.

I will be reserving posts number 2 for website statistics which I will be updating monthly.

In post number 3 I will be posting various links to the information I am using when working on my website.

So far it has been a slow progress for me, but I continue to work and am sure than with enough work and effort put in this website will eventually gain more traction and lead me to my goal, as described in the thread heading.

So with that said, let's move move forward with this thread. I will be updating with more starting information as the time permits me.

    Have a lovely day,

    Zatoichi

I see now that the option to edit the post expires after some time. I guess I will have to fully prepare post before posting. Also, seems I will not be able to organize thread the way I was hoping to. What to do, I'll make due with what I have available.

Curious of the niche...in general and what's the average cost of the products?

And how can you explain 35k backlinks?

Niche in general is health related. Average cost of the products is bellow 100$. I know that it is bellow recommended product costing for the Amazon affiliate website but I choose it because my partner is a professional in the field and we had ideas for later expansion and/or marketing use.

As for the backlinks, some of the authority websites I made manual comments to have "latest comments" widget on the website side stripe. I believe that is the reason for seeing such a large amounts of links in total.

    Thank you for your input!

Can you please expand a little bit on the various other good sources of traffic other than Google? I am for now focused pretty much on google ranking, but also have setup twitter and facebook page with some automatic posting. If you know of some good guide on those other traffic methods, please post a link as I would be very interested to explore those ideas further.

Good luck for your journey OP!

One of my amazon sites is very similar to yours in terms of content size and current traffic.

Yeap, it has almost the same traffic as your site and when i put them in comparison, the first prominent thing that catches my attention is your amazon link click thru rate.

With 600 visitors to your site this month thus far, 166 clicks to amazon might be a little too low.

Im just stating my stats, with 600 visitors, I want at least 400 to click on my aff links. Minimally 300. (why waste the traffic)

Maybe you may want to look into your link placement, and that could help with increasing the revenue overall.

Your conversion rate is impressive by the way!

    Good luck and work hard!

Thank you for the info primeCS! Your click rate is amazing. I will definitely look into it. From whom did you learn how to do link placement? Can you please post a link so I can start my research from there ? ( a guide, tutorial, case study, blog post,... whatever sent you to the right direction regarding this on-page seo element)

Hmm maybe those links are from things like forum signatures. Interested to know price range of your Amazon product. :)

    Hi Zatoichi,

I didn't really use a guide to do this, basically it took quite a bit of testing and tweaking to get your optimal results.
There are no hard and fast rules, but generally these are the approaches:

    - I try to mention my product (with link) as early as possible, preferably in the top half of the webpage.
    - Make sure my link is prominent and my visitors will not miss seeing it unless he/she is blind.
    - When writing about the product, shamelessly (but naturally) lead visitors into a compelled decision to click on the product and check it out, as if they will miss out something if they don't click.
    - Place pictures of the product (with link) at the top half and bottom half of the article. (people love to click on images)

On one hand your aff links must appear naturally; On the other hand you must make sure they see and click on it..

Don't be shy with the link placing. After all, sending all your visitors to amazon, this is the ulterior motive of every affiliate site, isn't it?

Edit: If you really must have a guide, i find the below 2 guides written by @lightningblitz and @Nick Flame are the most relevant reads.

Thank you all for support, I keep grinding at it.

Thank you for a detailed response primeCS! Do you think having a Content at he top of the article negatively influences click through rate ? For example, on some large blog posts Content covers all the Above The Fold area.
