Update 2
Hello, I hope that you guys are doing well!
I see that many are waiting for the update, so here it is.
I have been editing a bunch of Shorts and uploading 2 of them every day.
Almost all of my Shorts get the initial 400-500 views in a short time (like 2 hours) and then they stop getting views, even if they get likes, subs and comments sometimes. I was hoping that some Shorts go through the second phase and get more than the usual views, but it didn't happen so far.
Lately, I though about a trick to make people repeat the Short and watch it again (as I think that this is a good thing for YT to show my short in the feed after it gets the first 500 views. I will try this new style of videos and see if I will surpass 1k In one of my shorts.
Those are the stats of the channel so far:

I am getting close to 10k views and gaining subs daily.

What I've done so far:
Shorts edited: 32
Shorts posted: 30
Subscribers: 479 (+45)
I will try to follow this new style of editing shorts and make sure to improve their quality, hoping for a good spike in views soon.
See you in the next update!

I am having a similar experience with the views. My short might reach 500 views quickly, but it then will die and not get more views. I make english commentary shorts with trending viral videos as the background, like Dylan Anderson. Not sure if I should try to niche down more than this.

I think the YouTube Shorts algorithm works like this: it gives you an initial boost to get around 400–500 views. Then, it checks how well the video performed (swipe percentage, watch time, likes, and subs) to decide if it should push the video to a wider audience. But it’s strange because some of my shorts do well in all these areas but still don’t reach the next level. I’ll keep uploading daily and see what happens.
good luck on your journey mate
Thanks man!

You have weird formating in first post, I am not even able to read complete text.

Yes the algorithm seems weird. For example, I have 2 shorts with 500 views each, but one has 70% view rate and the other has 50%. So how come the 70% one did not get pushed more, why did it get pushed the same amount as the video that performed statistically worse? I am going to keep uploading 2 per day and try to defeat this algorithm. But I am not sure if the issue is with what I am doing, or if I just need to be more consistent for more time before I succeed.

Hello, I have been in this amazing forum for 2 years but have never posted an IM before and I think it's time for my first journey.
I have been doing YouTube (long videos) + CPA for almost 3 years, which made me very familiar with YouTube.
I am not a very talented video editor but I decided to give this skill some daily time to improve my video quality, and since I was only doing long videos I decided to give Shorts a try.
The purpose of this journey is to keep me motivated and on track.

Journey plan:
I plan to grow a YouTube channel using short videos only, I am not thinking about how to monetize it now, my only goal is to grow the channel and get consistent views and subscribers.
This channel will cover a famous niche that I think a lot of people watch while scrolling on their shorts feed (I won't reveal the niche in this journey).
I will use an old channel that I have but I didn't use it for so long, this channel already has 430 subscribers.
I plan to post 2 daily short videos respecting the same schedule. (one at 7 pm and one at midnight)

Tools:
Used Clips: I will use clips from Pexels (my chosen niche has a ton of videos on Pexels that I can use).

Editing: For now I am only using Adobe Premiere Pro, if I start using any other software in the future I will update you guys about it here.
Script: ChatGPT with manual editing.
Voice Over: ElevenLabs.
Music: YouTube Library.

Goals:
One of my ultimate goals is to become better at editing shorts and learn new skills, that way I can make better Shorts/Tiktoks/Reels for my CPA journey and stop relying on long videos only. And I believe that by editing 2 shorts every day I will learn many new things about what the viewers want to see and how to make my short videos go viral.
Another goal is to make money with this channel (through Adsense or another way of monetizing)
For this channel, my goal is to
reach 10k subs in 6 months using shorts only, if I reach my goal in less than 6 months (Hopefully lol) then I will start working on long videos in the same niche as well, but for now I will only be doing shorts.
What I've done so far:
Shorts edited: 3
Shorts posted: 2
Views: 0
Subscribers: 430
I edited 3 shorts yesterday and posted 2 of them, I plan to edit as many shorts as possible when I have free time (As I am doing a PhD in real life + my CPA and other IM work) that way I can save all those shorts in my laptop and upload 2 every day, but even if I don't have backup shorts in my laptop, I will make sure to find time
(even if I sacrifice my sleep time) and edit 2 and upload them every day, as I believe that consistency is the key.

That's all for today guys, I am not a native English speaker so excuse me if my English isn't perfect.
I will try to update this journey as much as possible. Also in my 2 years here, I realized that the majority of people don't complete their journeys, that also motivated me to try it myself and see if I will be able to continue doing this for at least 6 months.
Wish me luck and I will be happy to answer any questions!
You have a solid plan. Good luck with your journey.
