I've been fooling around with ranking YouTube videos recently, as there seems to be a lot less competition to get them to rank first page, in a lot of niches. This is a short video I found, that covers some of the basics.

Great overview for newbs and experienced SEO'ers, and at the end he links to 4 other videos of his, that explain each part of "On Page Optimization". Only for YouTube though.

On thing I didn't know is that YouTube will actually use the closed caption text to rank a video for a specific search term.

Here you go, have fun, and Good Luck. ~englandrm

    Wow! Thanks for posting this.

I recently decided to start a big video marketing campaign to get some more exposure in the google search results. Using these tips I should be able to get 1st page hopefully. I wonder how big of an effect the backlinks have though? If your on-page seo is good, don't you think sending a couple thousand scrapebox and Xrumer links to the youtube video page would get it on page 1 for the google search result of the keyword you are targetting?

Thanks I knew about the closed caption feature being used for SEO, but have you seen the results you get when you enable CC on your videos?

Its not very accurate, haha I am thinking during your video you need to slowly say each each of your keywords so that Youtube can correctly interpert the words.

It takes a bit of time, but on one my main videos, I re-wrote the close captioning.

It was only a 2 minute video of me talking constantly, but took 10 minutes maybe, and now its perfect.

I haven't seen a change in the ranking yet, but I am number 3, and the 2 ahead of me have 200,000+ views, decent PR, although I've got them beat on comments and likes. I only have 6k views at the moment, but have a feeling I will be taking them over soon.
