Has anyone experienced a massive drop in rpm over the last few months?
Its because of terrorists, they make extremist videos, big brands like sainsburys have there adverts on these extremist videos, looks bad on their company, so advertisers pull out and stop using youtube, less advertisers = less rpm, a lot of big brands are pulling out of youtube because of this, they don't want their brand associated with terrorism so there making a statement to youtube by pulling out because they know this will affect creators in a bad way, which will then affect viewers. long story short advertisers are punishing us because youtube displayed their ads on terrorists videos
Read up on this, you'll have your answer.
As someone before me posted, advertisers are pulling ads from googles on search platforms (YouTube) because of their ads being displayed next to Islam extremist and kkk videos.
This is a huge hit for google, not that it matters though because they pretty much own the internet.
Maybe do some research before you start talking. It isn't only about terrorist, but everything that is against the rules. If someone create a video about the game: call of duty, he doesn't can earn much with it anymore. This isn't terrorist related, but it's assault.
Tell us more.
( @ZlatanTheGod ) This has nothing to do with gaming content in the raw...This isn't Nintendo sweeping the leg like they usually do. The current CoD:WWII issue is related to potential Nazi representation in the game...historical reference be damned. [ SEE BELOW ]
The PRIMARY reason for these issues is Youtube folding to pressure to remodel the platform around assisting ABC, CBS, FOX, and other media outlets in growing Youtube TV so they can move into the digital spectrum on top of THE largest video platforms in existence. This remodeling means killing off any channels with competing content and opposing political views, especially those with right-leaning tendencies of the non-establishment nature. As an example, The Young Turks (Far-left) is partnered with Youtube Red or Youtube TV. They have previously said some things that would 100% qualify as hate speech (beyond the killing white men stuff, openly claiming the Armenian Genocide never happened) : but their channel remains fully monetized and unbarred when viewing it in safe-mode. In comparison, any channel that counters them gets demonetized and/or blacklisted under safemode.
True, It has less to do with either the KKK or ISIS hosting content on Youtube as both of those groups and their users could easily be targeted for demonetization instead of using blind automation that currently sweeps up 100% rule compliant content, causing those users trouble, but they are part of the primary reason regardless.
@tandy11 knew exactly what he was talking about, on the uppermost layer at least...and anyone with a second to think would take a closer gander at what types of channels that got hit and see that a small portion of them were gaming only...
