So apparently, YouTube checks re-checks their partners from time to time.
A couple weeks ago, I woke up to see one of my channels had its monetization disabled. The whole thing was pretty strange as I have never had a strike or anything and they did not send me a notification or email - it was just gone.

They were actually right to do so, because I have a handful videos on there which I didn't 100% have the right to upload.

What do I do now? Can I just set those videos on private and then re-apply?

I fear they won't accept my application, because as a music channel, I have a lot of claims on my videos. I have written permission for pretty much all of the music I use, but how is YouTube gonna now?

Damn, you're right, I just researched a bit and it seems like plenty of people got hit by this.
Do you think putting questionable videos on private is enough, or should I delete those videos completely?

Most likely, channels that have reuploaded videos, cheat/hacks, adult material and videos that abide yt community rules tend to demonitize. Just a thought tho

Thank you, googling the term "YPP suspended" helped a lot. I just hope that joining an MCN isn't the only way to get back into the program.

you need to build a channel based around your content owned strickly via you.

get proof for anythink you own.

monitizeing your need to prove the , 4k hours before it re activated.

everythink needs to be natural .

If you have written proof, are you adding that to your descriptions? If you do decide to contact someone at Youtube, it is going to be a lot easier to convince them that you have the permission if you have been consistently adding that to your descriptions rather than it all suddenly appearing out of nowhere once you lost your ability to monetize. Either way, good on you for getting permission! So many people do not.

You cant hide the videos, youtube sees everything as its their portal. Delete every copyright materials, upload only your own content or contents that you have 100% RIGHTS TO upload, then reapply,. Yes youtube is definitely getting too big for its boots and they seem to think they have every reason to, afterall they got no competition. Only a strong competitor can bring them down a notch or two!
Gone are the days when youtube literally begged you to join their Partnership, these days if you dont know what you re doing, your channel is a goner! Smh

This has absolutely nothing with the suspension wave currently happening. I didn't buy views and I even posted a screenshot showing why the channel wasn't approved for monetisation.

Well, it's pretty much impossible to build a music promo channel only around content owned by myself. The point of such a channel is to promote songs from different producers.
However, I will double check that I got sufficient licenses for the music I am using.

    Good advice, thank you!
I have a disclaimer in my videos that says something like "Every video is uploaded in good faith, either because the track was submitted through our demo form or we're using it according to the record labels youtube policies. If you own the rights to this song and think it shouldn't be on here please contact [email protected]".
This might be a little too generic though, I'll see if I can make it sound more convincing and also add something similar to the channel description.

I suppose you are right, I guess I'm just gonna delete those videos.

If youtube disables all accounts that don't post their own content, how are big pages showing gaming clips beeing monetized?

This is actually what I am advising against. Appeal before you change things because if Youtube staff can see when descriptions and such are changed, then it looks like you specifically added everything after the channel was demonetized. Which in turn looks like you are making up the fact that you have the rights. I would keep what you had originally and quote that in your appeal while explaining the situation. In your appeal you can also add something along the lines of "I intend to create better descriptions for my channel which make it clear that I own the rights to use the content."

What do you mean with reuploaded videos? I thought was okay to re-upload videos with common creative license.

Thank you for your heads up!
However, if I remember correctly, there is no text field when (re-)applying for monetisation, so there's no way to add such information. Or would you suggest contacting the YT Creator Support first?

It IS okay to re-upload videos that are licensed under creative common license in terms of copyright law, but that doesn't mean YouTube wants to partner such a channel.

Well, I think music is way more sensitive than gaming. There's surely more copyright infringements because of music than because of gameplay clips.
Music uploads pretty much only differentiate by background image and visualisation. I'd say compilations are, while definitely not the pinaccle of original content, a little more unique.
