YouTube Leaking Referrer!!!!

If those visitors were running any sort of linkifier type plugins, and if your url is very similar to a keyword or keyword combo that are in the description or the comments, then it is possible that is how it happened.

Remember that YT does not have to serve the link, if it winds up in the viewers browser by any means, including a plugin or userscript, that will be enough to do it.

I have come across that when you are on a webpage say in this example

youtube.com and you type in yoursite.com

and it shows up in my stats the same way. I clean all my traffic with double meta refresh though now.!!

Yeah, they probably just typed in your URL from the Youtube link. I've had that show up on my stats before when I'm checking links etc.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I don't use any annotations.

I checked the stats of some more domains a bit more closely and YT and other vid sites show up.

Uptill now I only used double meta refresh for sites linking into mine.
From today I'll include all type-in traffic to this as well.

Another thing I will make common practice from now on:
when visiting a site I will always open a new tab.

How do you think it will look if you sign up for a affiliate program or CPA-network and BHW shows up as the referrer even though you typed in your destination by hand.:yield:

They can read the url with similar technology that is used to decode decaptchas.

Text recognition technology. With the same technology they can tell if a video has porn in it by recognising large areas of naked skin tones!

well, it has to be a direct type in, so that takes out all the usual ways to have a referrer,

maybe it has something to do with flash cookies, or just cookies in general from yt.

just an idea. or it could just be that they are using some sort of js to keep the ref*

there.
