Hey guys, long time lurker here starting my first ever journey on BHW. After spending close to 4 months researching YT, I am finally ready to take the plunge on starting a (hopefully) successful YT channel. This journey is inspired by @PaddyVu and his thread on how the YT algorithm works.

As the title says (The Hard Way) all of the content will be original and produced by me at least until I get the YT channel off the ground and running. I am thinking about the future and about 90% of this particular YT channel can be outsourced (painful to find good talent but possible).

Current Progress:
  • Outsourcing banner creation and channel image creation of Fiverr, however I first need to decide on it lol.
  • Editing one of my old YT channels that does not have any videos posted on it - changing the name and so on...
Content Strategy
Initial Content Plan
I will start off by posting videos once every day, although this is still not set in stone. The aim for the video length is between 35 to 60 seconds long.

Long Term Content Plan
After the initial content has exploded and we have gained some die hard subscribers, then I am planning on moving on to longer forms of content, with initially testing out 3 minute long videos and then moving on to 5 minutes and the eventual goal of 8 minute long videos, to make more of that sweet ad money.

Monetisation Strategy:
The main one is YT Partner Program, so Ad revenue.
Due to the nature of the channel it is possible to make some merch, however this is much later on.

I will be posting some YT monetisation strategies soon to really demonstrate to you guys how many ways there are to make money from YT.

Expenses:
$30

Good luck with your journey! But you should think about creating a bit lengthy videos as well, that doesn't waste viewer's time and keep them watching!

Good luck with your journey OP, if you don't mind telling us, what is your niche? I'll be following this thread

I was thinking about starting off with longer videos, but due to literally having zero experience with YT content creation I'm gonna hold off until I get some sort of workflow figured out.

Update:
  • Outsourced some stuff regarding the channel branding on Fiverr. This was my first time, so took some getting used to.
  • After finding out that shit takes a long time on Fiverr to complete and communicating my exact requirements is a pain, I decided to make the YT banner and channel image myself and I think they turned out decently, considering I haven't used Photoshop for about 5 years.
What's Next:
  • Need to start looking at scriptwriting and thinking of video ideas, titles and thumbnails.
  • Even though I am aiming for about 30 seconds for the first videos, they need to be very well made. So I am debating whether I hire someone on Fiverr to edit them or I do it myself. I'm not planning on adding in any special effects or anything, its just going to involve matching up commentary audio to clips.

Quick Update:
  • So according to one of the threads I have been reading by @PaddyVu, in order to get noticed if you are a new channel on YouTube, you need to share your video as soon as it comes out. One of the options I have been exploring is finding suitable sub-reddits and it has turned out to be harder than expected. The main problem is that the bigger sub-reddits which I would like to promote my video on are very well moderated and do not allow any kind of promotion. So in turn I am focusing my attention on smaller sub-reddits and will get Reddit upvotes to my post to ensure most people in the sub-reddit see it - that is when I have created my videos.
    • Also, I have been thinking of trying to pay for promotion on some of the bigger sub-reddits, however this probably does not seem like a valid option since there are so many moderators I am not sure how they would even share all of the money.
