So long to uploading all those music videos to promote affiliate offers

"Perhaps this has been going on for a while, but I?ve never noticed it before. YouTube users often create an original video using their favorite popular song as the audio. I?m afraid that they won?t be able to do that much longer, since YouTube has started muting videos that use unauthorized copyrighted music (and that pretty much means all user-created videos.)"

    just make video clips...

youtube is starting to suck.... if i was a cynic, i'd think that the whole reason why google bought out youtube was to police video sharing

I saw that a couple of days ago, was trying to listen to a song. I'm hoping they lose a lot of viewers because of this. I only go to youtube to listen to music (that I'm too cheap to buy ;))

damn i only go to youtube mostly to listen to music.....

but this can be good news for us blackhatters regarding ringtone offers or to be able to monetize it in a different way.... get your heads thinking as ive already got a few ideas running round now.

I can almost guarantee that someone other than YT made this decision for them. The RIAA are hungry mofos. I'm sure there the ones that stated remove such and such music or we will fine you X amount. I bet it wasn't YT's decision!

Record companies don't understand that if it wasn't for the internet they wouldn't be making the money they are now...Look at what itunes has done among others...

Internet allows people to spread there music faster than any offline means could think about. Most all bands love there music being shared by fans...

There is some people that abuse this rule by using it commercially. The band still gets more exposure to a business side. A crowd that most likely wouldn't have heard of them if they didn't see the video.

From what I seen when bands talk about fans or music something always comes up about a YT video they seen or liked eventually..So even they are paying attention.

Because the RIAA are hungry I see alot more of this stuff starting to happen in the future because independent bands can make it without a label it's just alot more work and the internet makes it a little easier for the bands to do that. RIAA wants you to sign that contract so they own you until the "record deal" actually known as a HUGE loan is paid off...

I see this being the fall of alot of traffic for YT personally. I wonder who the next big Video site is going to be?
    Just my 2 cents

Not too long ago, when you used copyrighted music, they just blocked the vid and the only option left was to dispute the copyright issue.

Now at least they give the option to mute the sound and they release your vid again.

If the vid already has a lot of views, ratings and comments this is a better option then to re-upload with a new soundtrack.

And of course their system isn´t as tight as they claim.
Only 2% of my vids are caught in the act....LOL....and they all have the nicest music you can think of...

This is going to kill youtube.
The vast majority of searches on youtube are for music.
Just type any letter into the youtube search box and look at what it suggests, almost every time its artist names and song names.

I wonder what video site will be the next big thing, if youtube does indeed turn into a smoldering pile of rubble.

had the riaa gotten involved when mp3s first came out, the world today might be different. but back then, mp3s were only traded by computer geeks...nobody knew what they were. It was only after the first mp3 player came out that the riaa woke up and realized that they were in deep $hit.

I think the original owners of youtube had no alternative but to sell to google. for one thing, they saw a huge legal storm brewing that they could not fight.

Anyways....maybe it's for the best....just dl a video and clip it...i'm sure you can pull something together under some fair use law or something...

my guess is that file sharing sites willl be targeted next....sites like rapidshare and stuff like that

Ugh, people saying "This is going to kill YouTube" or "Time to find another one."

We all know that YouTube will not die because of this, it won't die for a LONG time. :( This is the best place to market, and will be until people see other things, which won't happen with how much the media and movies are advertising YouTube...

I also have that problem with yt. Ever since google took over, it has not been the same.
I listen to playlists that I created and a lot of my songs get skipped over. I like to know if
anyone knows of a better website to go to in order to create musical playlists, please tell me!!!

Hmm, can't agree with this. That means that also all the Big Channels with thousands of real subscribers also can't add there url in description or watermark there videos.

I think they are going to use more In-Video Ads.

@blackhit: the nicest music I can think of is the soothing sounds of a cash register till opening..cha-ching! yea!....

    @infoseeker51: I use
    Code:
    hxxp://justhearit.com
for playlists. Kinda cool twist. It pulls music off f YT but has an easier playlist maker and they keep their list up to date so no vids are muted/axed.

@DaveNL: They already do something like that. I was watching a lil'wayne vid and it had a "listen to this song @amazon.com" banner underneath the vid. I ned to jump on that though. This audio mute thing is going to be a gr8 market to corner. Good thinking!

This explains the epidemic... i was wondering why I couldn't hear stuff... why the fuck they took so long to explain this, have me turning my whole area over to *fix* my audio.
