YouTube is about to destroy Patreon's whole career

YouTube is about to push Patreon out of business (at least with YT creators) with their new "membership perks" feature.

Below is what it looks like as seen on my YT app (Android). What do you guys think? Hit or miss on YouTube's side?

The custom emojis remind me of twitch. Definitely a good implementation for content creators, I'm sure the conversion is higher on YT itself than going from YT-> Patreon.

Wasn't the entire purpose of Patreon to get away from Google iron clamped fist? (ironically Patreon became even worse lol). There's always going to be a place for sites like Patreon even with youtube new service i think.

I wonder if they will allow as much stuff as Patreon, or continue to be retarded with their "Not Advertiser Friendly" mentally.

Doubt it. Patreon is good to diversify your income as a content creator. Youtube pulls too much shit with people's money and they're fed up with it.

Hmm it's definitely gonna hit them, but this feature probably won't be available for smaller YouTubers 10K-150K subs, so they'll still be using Patreon

This has been a thing for a huge amount of time and never took off. No one really uses it, however, those that do use it, use it almost like a donation rather than a sale for extra perks.

it's much easier for YouTube to get a better alternative than patreon for its creators, they have access to a bunch of data, in my opinion it's all about the politics, YT in their core are more political because it's the modern TV now, imagine how much influence it has on people's opinions...

That will take a lot of time. Patreon built a large base of loyal subscribers. Moreover, I am pretty sure YT will cut a large chunk out of that subscription money.

I'm late I guess, but I was really excited to see this on my YouTube app.

Maybe it wasn't enabled in my country or YT stopped it for quite sometime, who knows?

It's just like how instagram destroyed snapchat as a platform. It's going to take time but the same thing is going to happen.

Patreon is dead in the water anyway, if you have been watching YT you will know they have just lost a huge court injuction. Which means anyone who was a subscrober of a patreon account that was disabled can now sue Patreaon for $0. And patreon has to pay to defend each individual claim.

What the Hell is up with companies based in California? Every time they get large they start doing stupid stupid stuff that sabotages their own success. The point of running a company like Patreon is to make money not to be an activist.
