I know there's a big division on whats better (cpa vs adsence) with youtube. My question though is if you have video's that aren't exactly specific to a niche and that aren't conducive for monetizing with offers for free stuff, for example if I had videos of puppies but got a lot of views, would you think that adsence would convert better than a cpa offering something that is unrelated to the video?

Adsense beats the hell out of any of the CPA/clickbank crap people pull on youtube.

Let me put it to you this way, adsense is like your last resort monetizing. Cpa in the other hand should be like your first option to monetize if you can, now in order for cpa to work there has to be an urge, a desire, a need , even a large enough curiosity from the visitor to fill out those email submits, lengthy surveys, ppi offers, browser plug ins etc. that you throw at them .

Now some niches get a lot of views and are super easy to get views, such as adult videos on yt( not really adult but those that promote dating offers), funny videos(such as funny cats, babies etc) . They are all hard to monetize but when your promoting funny stuff then is really hard to monetize since its mostly people killing time looking at funny stuff , same thing can apply to sports as some people have reported that is hard to monetize those videos.

When your promoting those niches, then your better be a damn good blackhatter to think of an idea of how to monetize that traffic to cpa offers, why i mean that statement is because that traffic is cheap as fuck and you can get it easy by the bulk on youtube , but is really not easy to monetize with cpa and with adsense you will get very low paying keywords too. Now there is a reason why most people focus on the game niche when they do youtube because most people have an urge to get the latest game, patch, hack etc. So its easy to monetize that if you content lock what they seek behind a cpa offer.

So you can either go with the known easy niches that are easy to convert, or you can go with those niches that get a lot of views but traffic is hard to monetize and the adsense clicks are low but you get a lot of traffic or better yet a lot of views cause you still have to convert views into clicks(traffic to your site).

http://socialblade.com/youtube/top/500SB makes it very clear there's hundreds of youtube publishers making more in a month with overlays than many content locking networks pay out in a year, and those estimates are based on CPM rates, not the $1+ agencies are paying for truestream rolls.

I don't know that he is or isn't, a conservative estimate on revshare just for YFM is two million bucks. Another way to look at it is Youtube's gross revenue from display advertising is about 1.5 billion and trending upward, they pay out about 60% to publishers, that's $900 million up for grabs for publishers.
