The algorithm favors good relelevant content, as long as you keep that up then you should be good. White hat seo is safer for the long term, and is very sustainable especially for businesses providing services
 
True but if ads are profitable, scale. Can make up the difference with profits and go higher than organic SEO. Pros and cons to both ends but profitable ads is never a bad thing.
 
I wrote good content, white hat. Smashed up by the recent updates and I've to increase budget on ads.

Anyone who's saying that SEO is free or a one time investment is lying though. It will never be either. You're either going to spend time or money. And time is money.
 
But SEO is really expensive and even after spending money, it doesn't guarantee results.
Even if results are achieved, there's still chances of going down

That's not necessarily true, the forum here is full of journeys where peoples spend fortune on high quality contents, only to be outranked by garbage.

To OP, not everyone is willing to wait a year for the organic traffic to pick up.

SEO is slow. On the other hand with PPC you can start getting traffic to your offer within hours.
