What title says, having a hard time picking one, they seem to over optimize keywords by sticking the title inside the title tags + H1 tags or simply not working with pages instead of posts or not having enough customizations :l

For me, the Newspaper theme never seems to disappoint.

Seems a bit too simple, will try to customize it and see for myself

I used x theme to build my latest blog, I like gem as well.

I just look for a clean and simple theme, not for complicated ones where users are distracted.

People should be able to read the blog that's it.
Writting should be compelling enough though :)

Pick the theme that gives the best for your site visitors..
then, for on page seo or extras like slode show or whatever, do it manually.
There many guides about how to edite your theme.
If you want to remove h1 of the title, just search the net and you will find an answer. You do not have to be an expert in html or java or whatever languge used to build sites.
That in case you are using non support themes.

Buying themes that has support will make it much easier.

Schema all the way, though it has been a bit overused nowadays. I've also always liked Newsmag and similar themes.

Simple is better. A complicated design can turn off the reader.
