This thread will include my ideas, plans and earning reports.

My goal for week: Get motivated and build site

Diary Entry #1 - Dropshipping and eBay

I've sold on eBay on and off for the past few years, I encountered many suspensions, dealt with costly customs issues though I did make some VERY decent profits. Unfortunately all good things come to an end and the items I once sold are no longer in demand.

I then tried the Chinese drop shipping thing with little success. 6 suspended accounts later and little profit. I realized this is going nowhere. eBay and PayPal are raking in the fee's and the supplier is getting their share while I'm stuck in the middle with the leftovers, dealing with annoying customers.

Then i thought to myself, instead of being the pissed off eBay seller, I could become the supplier.

Theres a shitload of shifty Chinese dropshipping sites out there but they have SCAM written all over them. The customer service speak terrible english and they only accept Western Union. Most potential customers run away scared.

My plan is to become the middle man, the trusty englishman that has genuine and safe contacts in China that offers excellent customer service and safe payment options.

I'm going to write an ebook and make a website. The ebook (most likely free) will be about dropshipping and ebay which will include my website as the best and most reliable dropshipping site. The site will be selling cell phones, clothes, electronics, computer parts etc. all the crap eBay sellers want.

When an item gets sold. I email my wholesaler with the customers details and they send it off and I make my profit.

Please comment and let me know your thoughts.

    Diary Entry #2 - The Domain: AussieSupplier.com

I've bought the domain, got some cheap hosting and set up the site with Zen Cart. I haven't added any products yet, thats my plan for tonight. I'll go through all of my reliable dropshipping sources and put up what I think will appeal to the ebay seller market and on each product I will add an extra $5 which will be my commision.

I'm not too sure on the layout, but it will do for now. I eventually plan on buying a Zen Cart theme from TemplateMonster.com but not until I make some sales.

Once the site is up and running I will start on my free ebook and its website. I will be researching and reading every eBay/Dropshipping article I can come across. The ebook will outline all the eBay selling basics, how to make a bulletproof account, how to reach powerseller status and a bunch of other crap. I will also throw in bonuses such as eBay Auction Templates, PayPal/eBay Fee Calculator and whatever else I can think of. The idea is to provide everything the eBay seller will need so all they have to do is buy from my website.

    Thats my progress for today.

This was my initial thought when I wanted to make some money online. After a couple of weeks it became clear that without decent investment and/or a trip or two to china - this would take more effort to make les money than doing a real job.

In my experience this is only worthwhile if its done bigscale and done correctly.

Best Of luck - and if it proves difficult or generates not enough income - there are plenty of ideas on here that will! :)

    Thanks for reading.

I am coming to realize that it is going to be a lot more difficult then I thought, but I've spent this much time and thought on it I'm not giving up. I've now slightly changed my plan, instead of basing the site and ebook on dropshipping I'm going to be basing it around wholesaling. Dropshipping is far too expensive for buyers due to Chinese shipping costs eg. $10 MP3 Player - Shipping To USA $34, no ebay seller is going to invest in that. When wholesaling you get a much better price and discounted shipping. Selling the products in lots of 5, 10 and 20 will also make it easier to increase my share of profit.

Today I've now chosen my website's template and added a few starter products, you can view them at www.AussieSupplier.com

I've basically taken products from realiable Chinese wholesaling sites that I've used in the past and added on $10-$20 on top of the prices, which will be my profit.

I vote to have a sub-section for all these journals. There's enough going around to start one.
