Out of so many link-building strategies, Broken Link Building might be a good one. The steps are: 1) find a page that might link to you, 2) look for broken links on that page, 3) let the webmaster know… and ask if the broken link could be replaced with a link to you.

Welcome to 2021, time traveller.

Good effort from you, this method is already known to many people probably.

You might want to go more indepth than stating the obvious.

Broken link building is not exactly new; this method has been around for quite some time.

In fact, a lot of SEO software tools promote this method for building links.

It’s easy to see why.

To pull it off, you need to use a high-quality tool to get the right data set, so you can make the right decisions.

The downside with broken link building is the outreach phase

Finding broken links is easy enough if you have the right tools.

What’s challenging is the waiting and numbers game involved during outreach.

For example, you find 1,000 broken links and you come up with, maybe, 250 that you’re going to target.

You create a set of alternative pages that those broken links can link to, instead of the previous sites.

So far so good, right?

Well, you can take care of broken link building as far as your end goes—but what about the other side?

People are busy—in many cases, they put up blogs and they forget about them.

Don’t be surprised if for every 100 emails you send out, only 5 would bother to respond.

Of those 5, maybe 1 would be half-interested.

Do you see the problem here?

I’m not saying that it’s a bad link building method; but the return on effort might not be there.

You have to understand that unless you have a ready page to recommend as a substitute for the broken link, you’re going to have to make those new pages.

This means an investment of time, effort, and energy.
