Lol. This is (usually) a marketing ploy! This is like overcoming the barrier of the WordPress spam protection where you allow a comment on your blog only if the comment writer has another comment that was approved before... this method gets the first important message across to you and without being reported to the Mods because this is a touching-your-heart words from the sender to you. And who would reports such nice words, which you believe are being sent only to you...

Now once you have been zapped AND put your 'security-guards' off by the goody goody touching words, you are fully conditioned to read (and not report) the senders 2nd or 3rd or 'n'th PM (because you are under an obligation to treat the sender as a heart-toucher buddy). And then you almost blindly follow the sender's nice-sounding marketing instructions (you feel that the secret sauce is offered only to you by that touch-heart special buddy) with your guards off!

The same spammy scammy PM usually would be treated as spam, what else, AND reported promptly to the mods (as unsolicited/spam/whatever) if it were sent to you before the above goody-goody-zapping-talks process is not done on you by the sender.

So, when you think it's too good to be true..., expose it and report it too.
