Yeah just want to share with you a terrible experience I had today.

I thought of getting a translation gig by a person who had 100% great reviews. I pondered over other translators and saw this guy had the best reputation. I myself speak the language but with many mounting projects and other deadlines I thought that I can save some time with fiverr. I mean there has been a lot of recommendations here for fiverr and the 5 buck per gig is too good to be true.

But yeah after the seller completed the project, I'm fucking pissed. The bastard just used Google Translate to do 99% of the work using (which I confirmed myself), changed some words around and on top of that, 90% that was converted into English doesn't make any grammatical sense at all. I though it was a JOKE! Never again will I use fiverr.

I ask the seller to resolve the situation but got a somewhat retaliating response claiming that the content he provided is sound grammar. I guess this is how it works and don't even think he is a native of the language he claims to be... I wasted just 10 bucks so its nothing big to me but damn I feel scammed.

On top of that, no refunds from fiverr right? Any advice? I'm just going to move on and do the work myself. Going to have extra work tonight...

There are many good things to buy on fiverr, but i wouldn't outsource anything related to seo or web content. Normally users on fiverr sell what they have/know, not what you need.

Unfortunately Fiverr has become a stupid marketplace for selling mostly stuff like "I will dress like an idiot and sing that bla-bla-bla song" or "I will make a idiotic testimonial with my crappy accent" and so on and so on.... and fiverr staff tolerates that because they don't want serious stuff to be sold - it leads to too much disputes I guess, therefore - bad for business.

Anyway, are you sure you can't escalate to a dispute and have fiverr staff look into this?

Refunds are possible if you could be bothered but it would have to be a legitimate reason. I was getting a logo done recently and the guy who done it went to one of the top 5 sites in my niche, a site marketed very very well and just stole their logo and sent that to me. Unreal.
Technically tho in your case you have been provided with a translation - i.e. what you paid for. If the readability is questionable your port of call may be restricted to giving less than good feedback?

Yes. Its possible with refund. I have even worse encounter. I message the seller but he don't even bother to reply any of my messages.

I reported to fiverr via feedback but still he still not respond to me. I did a charge back from my paypal for his order. Its immediately get attention from fiverr and they resolve this for me by refund it back to my shopping.

Yes, i can't expect much for $5 but at least respond to my message to resolve.

Like anything in life sometimes things work out great when you spend money and sometimes they don't. I recently tested about 10 - 15 article writing gigs on Fiverr and found about 2 - 4 that were good and could actually be worthwhile. I did not feel ripped off for the 10 gigs ($50 - all had good reviews/past clients) that were mediocre. Its pretty much how business works and you also have to consider the source. There are lots are negatives about Fiverr but lots of positives as well. You may want to try the other freelance sites like Elance and Odesk to compare translation services and cost. I am sure there are plenty of good translators on Fiverr as well its just about investing the time and money to find them and thats just business and life. I know its tough when you feel you got scammed but I can assure you the time and negative energy spent worrying about $5 would be much better spent making $10 and doing something good for someone. Best of luck.

    Hello everyone,

Thanks for your input. I appreciate all your posts and yes these experiences are part of life. It's just my first time buying a gig on fiverr but will have an open and lenient approach towards other services they offer. I did send a feedback about the seller on fiverr.com/feedback a couple of days and did not get a response. But like Joozed said, it's better to make 10 bucks than worry about 5 bucks lost.

The seller did try to make amends to the work sent but it was just for show and the work is still halfass and there were many sections where they have been clearly copied and paste from Google Translate. I just can't believe I'm the first negative review on the seller making me feel as if the reviews are all rigged in some way or the seller just got lazy. But then again, I sent a sample and the seller confirmed with me that he/she can do it.

I won't give up on fiverr yet, but from what I can gather up, it's more to use for fun and therefore will buy a gig on fiverr to have this girl write my friend's name on her cleavage and sing him a Happy Birthday! For those kinds of stuff, I will definitely look to fiverr! For anything related to business, I'll let the real professionals handle.

    Happy Holidays!

Maybe we should contract out the work here in BHW. I don't think many members here would risk their reputation to give crappy service. We are all professionals, right? Did you try the "Hire a Freelancer" section in this Forum?

    Happy Holidays To All

Sometimes i wonder this top sellers on fiverr could they be working for fiverr?

I mean that sounds reasonable right they will get $5 every time they sell something...

And having multiple accounts providing different services that would earn them a lot!
