Seems like this internet thing may catch on :)

I have heard many things about marketing but upon reading up on it the last few weeks instead of having a better hang of what to do and where it actually get a little more confusing as there is just so much. I am out of work and have a lot of time at the moment to do something positive by helping my family with bills and such however there is so much out there it is hard to find a good starting point and steps to take from that start especially on a shoe string budget at the very best (I was reading a post here and it had mentioned why not someone simply buy a program for only ~hundred dollars, for me that is half of what we spend for all of us for food for our house).

I've read through a few posts and replies and it seems there are very intelligent, experienced and straight up people around. I hope I do not get in the way of discussions with many questions and comments that may not be constructed well enough to properly fit into the subject at hand.

Thank you very much for those that have created this site, keep it running and all those that contribute.

I have a question but not quite sure where to ask as it is about the site so just placing it here in case anyone sees this. I was wondering why when registering with the site that it asks for a PayPal address?

    Take care,
    Gimbal

    Gimbal, welcome to BHW!

To get you started and focused, start with what is posted and pinned on the forums, these are often the best places to start.

    - Basic SEO practices for newbies
    - The Complete Guide to Starting a Website

After you get those things read, find a method, make a plan and get busy making money :)

I know, it sounds too simple, and it might be, but making it simple works!

Let me know if this helps!

Paypal has become more strict over the past year or 2 by requiring a bank account linked, etc. Also, they're starting to report your paypal income to the government (In the US, not sure about outside the US) if it's over a certain limit.

I'm guessing the government were fed up with un-reported income through paypal not being reported and taxed. I'm guessing that's why they're requiring more information from its users.

Thank you, all of you for the responses.

I had not seen the section for trading and such and assume that this is at least one reason for having people input their paypal information. I can't help at first to be suspicious of sites that ask for any kind of personal or financially related information but now have a better understanding for that field.

Apparently the gov't has taken greater notice of the fact that so many people 'overlook' reporting taxes they should pay for items bought on-line and as of 5 days ago begun to make places such as Amazon charge accordingly. (I am not sure if it was just for a couple of states such as California/New Jersey or nationwide). Had read the story and was a bit surprised that in this economy it was not sticking it to people in every way possible :)

Thank you again, TheContentAuthority, Stipen and Adam718 for the warm welcome and information!

    Take care.
