I have been paying for this Yahoo Directory listing $300 since 2009. But now I know how to do alot more SEO and backlink building on my own. If I cancel this - will it hurt my rankings in either Yahoo and especially Google. I have natural listing in both engines with top 5 Listings.

nope, i don't think so, i subscribed for one year and canceled and nothing happened to my rankings.

also yahoo is terrible about taking down the listing so you will be on there longer.

the search engines will have a link archive that you were once listed so i think any trust you received will be transferred for some time.

just use your $300 now for more links

Tip: If you have a good site, Yahoo usually doesn't even bother to remove your site once you've stopped paying!

I have seen this mentioned on one SEO blog before, but this is a fact that is not very well known.

I can confirm that I have experienced this with one of my sites: I stopped paying for the listing years ago...but the site is still there, in the directory.

This is great to hear!! I feel like I'm wasting $300 as most of my traffic comes from Google anyway. Thanks guys/girls. Any other opinions are welcome.

I have tried 3 times , yahoo only helps new sites , but not a massive deal . If you remove it you should be OK .

Just go to fiverr and order a bunch of directory submissions , to satisfy your heart :)

I do not think it will influence your Google rankings. Google does not muach care about yahoo directory links.
