yahoo search isn't the same no more. yahoo is powered by bing now. so that could be the problem.

A few months ago, Bing took over Yahoo SERPs, and Bing doesn't like to report backlinks (just like Google).

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they were looking to phase out Yahoo site explorer - what benefit is it to them?

Yes I have noticed the same problem, pages are indexed in google but in yahoo they are being deindexed and the number of backlinks are being reduced. Many people on the forum are noticing the same thing.

YES! Look at the forum, there are multiple topics on this. All my websites are dropped (backlinks and the traffic). If it is not OK after 1 week, i will stop my business. Building links and spending money for some tools and proxies isn't worth the money if all backlinks will be gone in a flash.

On the other hand, getting ranked on Bing isn't that difficult. Guess it is a matter of perspective.

I notices this as well starting yesterday although it has not effected any of my rankings. Has anyone seen a corresponding drop in keyword rankings?

lol...yeah, I guess that didn't come out right. Definitely need backlinks. I just find Bing seems to value most of my links more regardless of where they come from. I have a number 2 ranking on Bing for a single word keyword that, of course, doesn't show up in the top 50 of Google. Wish I was doing something brilliant, but most of the links are just article generated. No blasts, edu or anything like that. Love Bing. Wish it had more traffic.

I lost about 40k backlinks to my main site, and my page dropped 1 and a half PAGES. Hope its a fluke and I'll come back stronger, but right now Im pretty spooked because it was my main money site :|

@OP, Yahoo didn't deindex anything. The site explorer has been dismantled by the new owner of Yahoo named Microsoft. Because site explorer no longer works doesn't mean your links don't exist.

@mudbutt, You should be concerned if your page dropped 15 ranks. Yahoo site explorer never helped in your previous ranking and it being gone won't do anyting to damage your future rankings.

I'm amazed at how totally ignorant people are about Yahoo site explorer and it's value. All it ever was, was a crawler that reported how many links it found for your website during it's crawl of the Internet. Google never relied on that crawler and never will. Because the Yahoo crawler has stopped doesn't change a damn thing with Google. That is equivalent to saying your Market Samurai quit working and now your website dropped a page and a half in the serps. All Yahoo reported was what their crawler discovered was on the Internet. Microsoft killed that crawler so guess what? It's not finding anything on the Internet. That doesn't mean it's no longer there!

I can assure you that Google never read nor gave value to 70% of the links Yahoo site explorer found pointing to your site. Google relies on data from it's own crawler and not Inktomi / Yahoo's crawler information.

yahoo site explorer never meant anything - it was just an indicator.

They were just more transparent in the backlinks they showed than google's link:domainname.com search, and therefore were a better indicator when trying to find someone's backlink profiles.

stop freaking out, your links are still there, google still notices the ones they noticed before.

everyone is affected the same way - this is pretty much a non-issue.
