This is definitely some blackhat shit! At the Google Trends page I stumbled upon a page which is at Google Trends level 'vulcanic':

    Code:
    google.com/trends/hottrends?q=us+news+college+rankings&date=2010-8-17&sa=X
One of the results seems (a first sight) to be a relevant news result:

    Code:
    warwickonline.com/pages/ad_details/?id=28829250
However, It's a news message which is edited and features some insane text about XXX-rated stuff, and it's linking to a porn website!

Though I didn't research this, my guess is that you can post a Classified online without any editorial review (
    Code:
    warwickonline.com/pages/edit_ad?klass=print
. Just make your ad look like an news article and voĆla!

This way you can show up in Google News and act like you are being mentioned in a news article with any website you like :). Use a Google Trending topic for maximum impact.
