    Yes , and no .
Both tool have the same objective creating links to boost your SERP.
The method used to create links are different , Scrapebox create links on blog scripts (Wordpress , BlogEngine , MovableType Blogs) , and Xrumer make links on forums(profile links , post links)

You may find a lot of additional ways to use ScrapeBox to do other useful things.

I'd say the big difference is that Xrumer can make a new account on a site for you. Scrapebox works on sites that dont require a new account to be made to post.

    Fear91: no.

They both have their ups and their downs. Depending on what you want to do, either one of those tools might have the feature.

This is going to be drawn out, but it's the best way I can think of to answer your question.

    There are drawbacks to both:

I have to go against the trend here as the minority of individuals that can't get SB to run stably for what I need it to do. SB is a great tool for things like PR, Index checking, and other little tasks - but for generating backlinks, it's been a very aggravating tool that I'm looking to replace for blog commenting only. I've now tried multiple boxes, multiple OS'es on those boxes, multiple bios setups, and 100% clean OS installs. Still, the line being pushed to me is that it's a local problem on my machine. I bring this up to warn you that while 90% of the users can use it with 100% stability, you could be one of us - the cursed. Be aware before purchase.

Xrumer on the other hand has run stably under every OS I've used, every memory configuration, and on multiple different boxes. Me and Xrumer = :shakehand despite the fact that I use it like an uneducated 3 year old. This is due to several reasons that you may find yourself run into as well.

You see with Xrumer you have to have the time to commit to learning it. I run 3 brick-and-mortar businesses and IM is a part time thing I play with because I think it's fun. Because of that I can't read the dozens to tutorials that are 99% crap and 1% value, since most are duplicate content with just one shiny little nugget or originality that can spur on thought. If you are a busy person like myself - go with SB and hope you can run it stably - learning Xrumer is a massive undertaking until a more centralized and well thought out forum/FAQ thread is built.

You can see - both have their potential pitfalls. The pitfalls ARE NOT SIMILAR.

That having been said, let's examine other features of the applications.

Scrapebox is a FAR MORE diverse application in terms of things you can use it for. You can check indexing, submit RSS feeds, ping, so on and so forth.

Scrapebox is an Amazing tool in it's diversity.

Xrumer has one application. Backlinks from places that don't want you to generate backlinks from. Blogs, forums, guestbooks, you name it. If you need a massive quantity of backlinks to drive into a parasite (think article, web 2.0 property, non money site) Xrumer is your tool. It's by far the most powerful thing I've used and I'm someone that buys first and asks questions later after I've gotten my hands dirty and have some experience. Mostly because I can afford to, but mostly because you should only beleive about 20% of what you read.

Xrumer is an Amazing tool for generate massive numbers of little junkie backlinks that add up cumulatively.

So your answer is that they work similar if you consider SB as a blog commenter. If SB will not run stably on your box for commenting, it's still an amazing tool in it's diversity. It's by far the best $57 I have ever spent despite my anger and frustration that there's some ghost in the machine involved with it.

    Your decision:

If you have a bunch of money to throw around and need a high volume of backlinks, do what I did and just jump into Xrumer two feet first. You may not be able to use it well unless you can commit the time to reading every single post, thread, and tut on it - but you will generate some backlinks to a promoter of your money sties.

If you are budget limited, the likelihood is that SB will run just fine for you. It return it will help your monitor your sites, and get a better overall picture of your SEO. It can also generate some backlinks, but not on the volume that Xrumer is capable of.

Hopefully that gives you a more clear picture of which to get and why.
