Hi guys

Have bought xrumer, and am having problems with the install. I keep editing the "hosts" file, but system says check path is correct, and will not save.

Any help?

Also I will be using desktop and not dedicated server ( as have patience I guess), plus have used trackback spider for a year or two, without a proxy, and with no problems, so can't see a huge difference, as won't be hammering any forums etc with massive daily numbers.

With TS I have used 3rd party sites linking to my main sites, and this has worked well.

Any additional help would be appreciated, and happy to pay for good advice on what do do for the best.

If you cant edit the hosts file its more than likely because you dont have write access to it. Are you logged on as Administrator?

Hi

yeah, I'm the only admin istrator, but I'll have another look, thanks.

what should the file extension be, as it keeps tryijng to save as a txt file?

If you're running Vista you may need to right-click and "run as administrator"

If that's not the problem then try contacting Alex. He's quick to respond even though you might need to ask a series of yes/no questions to really get to the bottom of it.

Edit the file in something other that notepad which tends to prepend everything with .txt . Try a different editor such as textpad.
