I think I just shot myself in the foot when I was doing my backlinking but I'm not sure.

Is there really a difference in the backlinking stratagy when using the www vs not?

I just realized that when I visit my site I only get the http version without the www

When I searched it using yahoo site explorer the www site has aroudn 3k backlinks but when I just use the http version I only get a few backlinks.

do I need to start using the http without the www to get results that I am looking for?

    Thanks

Shouldn't make any difference, but it's assumed to be a standard for a website to resolve as domain.com and www.domain.com. I always put a 301 redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com

never forget the www and you wont have a problem...

IDK how you do a 301 redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com when there isnt a different root folder for the domain.com aka they share the same root folder....so that could be BS what he said...but look into it if you dont want to remember to add the www each time

I'd have to disagree, I prefer using domain.com rather than http://www.domain.com and I set up a 301 redirect vice versa. It's not necessarily that beneficial for SEO purposes, but I have found it increases CTR slightly in the SERPS.

What is important is targeting your website to a specific country (if you are selling country specific products). You can change this in Webmaster Tools and it might help your rankings.

ah well n/m my last post i see how to do a 301 redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com (or vise versa)

Its been a while lol but you can deff install it on the same root :D

i dont think it matters either way (i prefer www)

But no matter what you choose make sure you build backlinks to the right one

you'll need a 301 redirect or it will split your seo. if using linux w/ cpanel, you can do this easily.
