WTH: Half/Full Day Coaching Session from Pro Online Marketer

    I'm in the eastern USA
    I have a 5 year old online website *community. It has achieved organic success because of real human engagement and quality of content. It has a strong and solid core of monthly paying members.

    As we succeeded in our niche, others have come along that are better marketers with inferior service. Because they are better at marketing than me, they have injured my business. I am simply not capturing the attetion that they are of the target audience.

    So I'm going back to the drawing board WHILE still doing what I've done to build it to this point...which is primarily offer excellent content and accessibility to real people. That's there and done...now I just gotta tell the world about it.

    I am not a marketing guru whatsoever and I feel that I'm just scraping the surface in the marketing I am doing. I get lost and overwhelmed within the forums here and I've spent several hours and alot of dollars trying some of the various ideas and techniques. It's a freaking black hole and I feel I'm just chasing one of my 10,000 tails.

    So I'm looking for a true and established online marketing professional that will give me a day (or even a few hours) on skype or phone to just talk through actionable and effective ways to market my site and take it to the next level.

    Given your general success, and level of experience it seems silly to pay someone to tell you what you likely already know.

    Here are some general thoughts:

    1. If you recognize you are losing market share based on marketing expertise solely, why not use your capital to hire a professional to manage this aspect? Delegation of tasks to more highly skilled workers is a core trait of successful entrepreneurs.

    2. You said your message isn't reaching your target audience because other marketers are using better strategies and techniques to pillage your potential customer base. Presumably this means they have identified more effective customer acquisition channels, such as PPC/PPV advertising networks, or more likely they have a much more effective affiliate base which drives their acquisitions. You can overcome these obstacles by dipping your feet more effectively into these advertising vehicles, or by developing/re-invigorating an affiliate program thus creating a channel for your "raving fans" to bring you these new prospects.

    3. It seems likely you know in what aspects you specifically need to improve to increase the effectiveness of your marketing. For example you may not be good at keyword research which would make it almost impossible to succeed in marketing. You may simply not be good at applying your understanding or implementation of keyword research into your advertising channels, or you may pay too much for your ads, or have poorly optimized ads. You may be a poor copywriter, or forget to implement high quality squeeze and landing pages into your campaigns. In any event, I'm confident you absolutely know what you need to improve. So another alternative is to seek more specific direction, or research solutions to your exact marketing deficiencies. A more directed and specific effort to resolve these challenges into opportunities to grow your skill set may be exactly what you are seeking, but only you can create the path because only you truly understand your shortcomings.

    Anyway, I'm just saying not to waste your money seeking answers from someone else who just knows the right questions to ask. That is the nature of consulting - simply help people find their own answers. I would just suggest creating some better questions for yourself, and then answering them through research or practical testing, and don't be afraid to let go of some tasks if they are better performed by someone else and that frees you up to focus on other opportunities.

    If you ultimately decide you are not a marketer, it won't make you less successful to outsource that to someone who is a marketer - it will just make you happier, and richer - assuming you are a good judge of character and don't just buy someone's bullshit because they ARE a marketer. Good luck - I think you know what to do.
