Title says it all when I read this email in my inbox, it was sent to me by myself! :confused:

Email Subject : Yahoo! Auto Response



Am I missing something here? Let me guess, did someone just login to my email and sent me an email??

I know with my smtp i can choose what i want the to / from to say so maybe thats what they did. :)

its just a clever way to get you to read the email. If they send out 1000 emails with the from address spoofed to the recipient's address, most people will react the same way you did and visit the site ;)

hheheheh :) actually first time when I used this method years ago for some more unscrupulous reasons like this one had great success . Thing is easy to do even on php scripts just to put the sender and receiver emails same :) ..... was one of most dirty ideas at the time :) . Very rarely and just after damn it loads of emails sent maybe ip's getting caught by spam filters ...
 
I've been receiving emails from myself, too lol

Google just sends them directly to the spam folder, and blocks them, warning that it was spoofed.

i got an email like this today with subject " Activity of your IP " :rain:
 
I've been getting thoughs too. Wondered how they did that. It freeks my wife out..thought someone was using her email.
 
Freaked me out too, called an ambulans! LOL JK.
 
thats funny. I've gotten those off and on too. I did a WTF also.

A few years ago, I had a old bill collector calling me, we have private numbers blocked on our phone, so callers would have to enter there phone number. One time they entered in our phone number...probably thinking I would go WTF and answer it...Nope, not that stupid!

Now we just have it reject all anon calls.
