k so to cut things short i designed a website for a client of mine. He wanted a website for a school. Some local school that has quite a large number of students.
Name of the school is LIMS

    lims.com, lims.edu.pk were not available so i chose limspk.com

    Code:
    http://limspk.com
k so today im getting phone calls from my client that, theyre pissed. They keep getting complaints from parents that the school URL keeps opening up a porn site

upon inquiry i found out that they had typed lims.pk.com, a common mistake especially for school children. which is the subsomain of some porn site

    Code:
    http://lims.pk.com
though this is not my issue, i seriously feel the seriousness of the situation, children wanting to visit the school site end up surfing porn.

what can i do about it

    HELP and please ASAP

lmao.. I'm emailing this thread to a bunch of people right now.

only thing you can do is to change the url from the school site to something like limsparkschool.com

There is nothing you can do except get a new domain for the school.

    1. Change the domain immediately!

    2. Make your old one redirect to the new

    3. Change that favicon

c'mon guys this is not funny.

and the_demon, LOLZ at the favicon

i found out that they had announced their website launch in their news letter and some one typod the URL as lims.pk.com and that newsletter is in the house of every student now. :/

so changing the domain wont do me any good for now.

there has got to be some way.. what if i contact the owner of pk.com, does anyone know the email id? and i found webmistress[at]pk.com and i think its not valid.

Sounds like whoever made the newsletter typo is to blame... best you can do is get a more descriptive domain name and then get the school to print a correction in a new newsletter.. if they're not willing to do that, then I hope their students like porn.

I would contact the owner of pk.com since having a lot of children on your site that (officially) aren't allowed to watch porn yet isn't the best thing to happen to your site.

And with the e-mail, there are two of them in the whois. Perhaps you should try both of them and see what works (or doesn't work)

Ok, the owner of the pk.com domain is pretty much one of the largest porn networks or an affiliate for them. You can give it a go... But, I think your more likely going to get a response of FU or no response at all.

BTW: Their network is about 11x larger than playboy. According to compete.com / alexa.com ranking details.

BTW: that site (pk.com) according to compete.com gets around 8K a month US traffic so unless you plan on spending some big bucks or the owner is REALLY nice.... I wish you good luck. :)

    Feel bad for you.

Well, at least now i know how to get porn into the newspaper, just pretend it's some kiddy school thingy, no one checks those eh. How can no one check a domain before putting it in the newspaper?!

It's not your fault someone did a typo. Too bad there is not some way to bank
on it. Perhaps PK will do a temp redirect for you while you get a new
    domain for your site. LOL

Oh wow, double feel for you since those who received it just need to click it! That's even worse on the person who sent it out still, main point is to get the domain right! Don't kill the sender please, we beg you :D

I think you should try to put it off on the person who sent it out as much as you can, you don't want to end up being the guy who told school children that 'Purrs, claws and curiosity will get you anywhere'
