WTF sells anymore?

100% agree. As I said in posts above, I've made my living mostly selling on ebay (it's pretty much the only place I can sell these products because EVERY one is different.) Sales from October of last year to now are down almost 60%.

What's selling?? In my opinion not as much as last year.

I have 8 sites (video games etc) and the general sales/traffic levels are about 40% down on last year. The overall level of money around is just lower now - i blame the bankers!!

Agreed big time. I put tons of keywords in my posting title and keep my powerseller account top notch and I get very high placement. When I didn't do this, sometimes I would hardly ever see my items coming up.

smart search has messed stuff up there, If you do not have good quality scores you will get burried.

the only way to get around it is to buy your way out of it with premium listings.

and I am not sure that works 100%

Yes, Nov. last year my sales died, and stopped selling all together on ebay.

Sales are down everywhere. It started on ebay about 2 years ago. It has become a giant online mall for the big name retailers. For a while, I used the ebay classifieds to send traffic to my affiliate sites. Then that has all but died.

Things sell but have to be unique and the profit margin HUGE. IF I cannot clear $50 after all fees, I don't mess with it. My best performing technique has been going to Estate sales and buying cool old stuff or niche products and reselling them.

I bought a Berky water filter, new and sealed for $5 and it sold for $200. I've bought a couple old reel to reel tape decks for $10 each and sold them to local collectors for $60-$80 each. I carry my web enabled cell phone with me. When I see a likely profit target, I ebay it quick to see what potential it has. I 've made easy cash off of bizzare stuff. Dolls, old books, belt buckles etc. The are all kinds of niche markets out there. Forget the big, popular name brand stuff.......The Chinese bootleggers have gotten smart. They sell it w/free delivery cheaper than we can buy it.

Oh for the good 'ol days of selling digital products on auto pilot and banking $100 a day...... :)

eBay fees are out of control and it just keeps getting worse. I don't know how some sellers are even breaking even.

I have to agree the fee's are starting to get outrageous, but as for the question what sells Ipods, wedding dresses and accessories, homemade wedding invites you can do easily with your computer and a printer, Toyz right now toys are hot lol..Im selling more toys right now out of anything else but we all know thats because xmas is close

Ebay Australia's fees are totally rediculous too and the chinese guys have almost everything stitched up and are selling at less than my cost price with delivery. Ebay has really lost its appeal for small sellers and has become more of an import/export dumping house for the chinese etc
