    just got the below email:
Our Buyer Protection claim period for tangible items will be extended from 45 days to 180 days, which is now inline with credit card chargeback schemes. This means your customers will have more time to make a claim, giving them more confidence in shopping with you.

    go figure. :|

So if someone decides they are not happy with something they bought from you after 179 days they can send the item back and claim a refund?

Surely 45 days is more than enough time.

I look forward to buying a car, then asking for a refund within 6 months. Cheaper than hire purchase, or getting credit.

180 days? That is quite a lot. Just imagine someone coming on the 179th day(6 months) and asking for a refund. Bad news for sellers.

Another absolutely ridiculous move by PayPal! So a customer needs 180 days in order to know
if they don't like something? BS! Credit Card companies are a bunch of idiots too.

Oh well since eBay is starting to accept Bitcoin I hope everyone starts using it.

Paypal should join the 21st century and offer seller protection to sellers who provide servers / intangible goods. I know they offer protection to buyers of intangible goods in the UK now.

Instead, they want to make life harder for tangible good sellers. Smart.

If you think about it they are just safe guarding their business model.

If a user doesn't want to use paypal, retailers won't offer it, and therefore they make no money.

Reverse it, more people want to use it because they have confidence in it (longer guarantee), more sellers offer it, and they make more money.

I don't agree with it, but I'm not really suprised.

Well you have about 180 days to file a chargeback anyway, so i don't see the huge deal.
