    Hi,

I had outsourced to a guy to build .edu and .gov links to my site. And one of the sites put this as a comment on my blog :

    Code:
    Hello,
We have filed a complaint against your website for adding your sites link in our site,So your site will get banned from the whole web if you do this again. We have also added the message in our website http://wiki.xxx.yy.gov/wiki/User_talk:Pearl
    Keep this in mind.
Is this something I should be worried about ?

    Thanks

No it wasn spam .... I have seen spam comments. The name they used was "admin" and the link took me straight to the profile which was created on the .gov website.

And when I followed the link this was written in the profile :

    Code:
YOUR SITE HAS BEEN BANNED AND COMPLAINED TO THE INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE,YOUR SITE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE WHOLE WEB WITH IN A MONTH.AND YOU HAVE BEEN PROSECUTED UNDER LAW201 FOR USING OUR SITE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS WE ARE CURRENTLY TRACKING YOU
I don't give a fuck about tracking me down and shit like that . I am just concerned whter something might happen to my website since its a .gov website.

That's one way to get a backlink. However I'm not sure who would want that type of information to be seen by the public, so I would imagine not many would stick.

Would prob work well with CPA or service directed towards webmasters though.

No, that comment is complete crap. First, if the government or some educational institution was concerned with your site they would not post a comment there. They'd write a letter (either to you and/or your web host, depending on what information they have regarding the site). Second, just look at the language of the post. Some 4th grader wrote it. I know there are plenty of incompetent people working in government but they aren't that incompetent! Bottom line: this comment is just a bunch of garbage - don't worry about it. That's what I'd do if I were you anyway.

Regardless of if you posted the comment on there, or someone else did this is what you do. Contact them and tell them you are outraged. You never posted a link and they have now libelled you by making false accusations that have absolutely nothnig to do with you without even chcking their facts.. Tell them a competitor is going round posting your links and you want this (their comment) removed at once and ask them for the IP of the poster (of course they will not have it and you do use proxies even if they do...) when put in a corner throw shit back ... don't apologise to them at all, demand they remove what they posted and ask them for the details theu used to track the poster so you can pursue them..(of course they will not have this..) and will start to think they made a big mistake.. anyone who posts this on their site is a granny with knitting needles who knows zero about anything.. I would not worry about them posting crap like we will have you erased from the internet and have you tagged for posting on our site.. Doesn't matter if its a gov site or donald ducks site.. whoever sent you the email is a few mince pies short of a picnic .

Even the language is so amateur. It is probably one of your competitors or some nut job trying to scare you for whatever reason.

It's fake. For one, if that guy can ban hammer someone from the "WORLD WIDE WEBZ", let me outsource him ;]

For two, the grammar and spelling is horrible.
    Code:
YOUR SITE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE WHOLE WEB WITH IN A MONTH
HAS been is past tense. WITHIN is one word. The government takes very careful steps to make sure their literature is correct for legal reasons.

    Code:
AND YOU HAVE BEEN PROSECUTED UNDER LAW201 FOR USING OUR SITE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS WE ARE CURRENTLY TRACKING YOU
    I can't believe you're taking this seriously?
Prosecuted - To initiate civil or criminal court action against.
Have they initiated anything? Apparently not. LAW201? For using their site for advertisements?

Give me a break, man, and add "PROVE IT" as a statement in your arsenal.

Respond to this with a professional, well written response on how your lawyer is prepared to take them to court for false accusation, defamation of character, and impersonation of government. Laugh it off, move one, and GET MONEY.

I think the sentence structure alone should put your mind at ease. it doesn't look very official. Could you imagine what the legal letter would look like?

Not to mention it was posted in a comment on your website none-the-less.

Completely unprofessional, grammatically incorrect, and if you get scared this easy you need to totally rethink your whole mindset behind things.

return serve and tell them that you took offence at them posting their wiki link on your website and you have reported them to the proper authorities.

I was reading somewhere that by writing opposing perspectives and such scandalous messages, some admin guys fall for the trap that it is a genuine comment. You probably let a spam backlink stay on your site for much longer than it would have. So just proves the theory.

Kick the guy's as* out of your domain. That's what you should be doing and in return spam his site ;)

Who has the authority to ban your website from the whole web? This can only happen of all of the Search Engines de-index your website from their database. Even then your site would come up if someone types the URL. This is just a stupid threat - but it shows guys are getting desperate from SB blasts lol,
