I have a site that is 10 years old and always ranked pretty well for a number of terms.
A few weeks ago it dropped for my main KW from the top of page 2 to page 6 .... WTF!!!!
Yesterday i checked the serps and it was no where in the top 15 pages ... WTF!!!!
Today with a little more time i carried on searching and found it on page 26 .... G you bast*rds!!!!!!

    Why?

I have not really done any SEO for over 12 months.
Never used SB or XR to blast the site.

Have always used white/grey hat techniques ... and the grey hat was done years ago!!!!

    Any advice welcome ...

it might be a google dance, so do some social bookmarking and try to get some natural look backlinks too.

478 posts? ahrefs or majesticseo will show you any spikes in links.

Could be a competitor blasting your site to get it deindexed or lower in the rankings. All they need to do is find a heap of adult blog comments and add your site. G will think your doing it and drop yor rankings fast.

Its not Ethical to do this but there are some people who do it (not me). When money is at stake a few people no longer have morales.

Seriously? Well you would see the links in webmaster tools most likely but you wouldn't get a message.
From where you were ranking though I would not think you've been hit by a neg spam campaign.

This is just google rolling new algo shit out. Adapt, change and persevere...Or leave it alone and watch the site die.
Looks like you might want to start using some new and improved grey/bh techniques.

    Good luck,
    Con

Just go to majesticseo.com and see if you have a big spike in backlinks recently that you didn't create, you can check that for free. Then you could go to backlinkwatch.com and check them out, which is free too.

Then come back and let us know, because we all want to know how vulnerable established sites are to neg SEO.
